About Me

I have long admired the short story and began trying to write stories of my own some years ago. Fictionaut provides a forum for us scribblers. I for one am grateful. I write micro fiction for the most part, but sometimes I write flash. I like short races; I'm no miler! I am looking forward to posting my stories and commenting on the posts of others.

jb

Why do you write?

It's fun and it's a challenge.

Any favorite authors? Books?

Hemingway, Steinbeck, Faulkner, Carver, the prose of the poet William Carlos Williams, Isaac Babel. Also the short fiction of Kathy Fish, Carol Reid, Katrina Denza, Marcelle Heath, Jeff Landon, James Claffey, and many more.

Carl Santoro – May 25, 2014

Jake, thanks for your comment re: "Oh, what's this?" she"
Actually, regarding the ending, I did have a discussion with my wife. She feels the male is "kidnapping" the female. Putting himself into her space without a clear invitation. I had meant this to be a technique shared by family members only if it became adopted as a new
tradition. The ending came to me as my fingers were pounding the plastic and I left it. Perhaps a new ending would be better. Your thoughts?

Steven J. Kolbe – Apr 11, 2014

Thanks for commenting on my story, Jake. I had in mind those new diseases and disorders that make it into Time Magazine and then later turn out to either not exist or just be a variation on something basic. Have you noticed how every child in school is ADHA?

Carl Santoro – Mar 29, 2014

Thanks for your comments on, "I Ask You, Erin Burnett…is it fair?" Good advice!
