Cardiovascular
by Gary Hardaway
What's wrong with the world
is that so many circumstances
squeeze the heart so hard
that you should die but don't.
What's right with the world
is that there are crab cakes and kittens,
puppies and just-baked popovers,
and the smell of coffee brewing.
And there is art, too, which tantalizes
as it squeezes the heart so hard.
Awesome, Gary. And timely. That's just how I'm feeling this morning. Such a simple, effective structure and heart-pulling images. I'm going to go pet my dog and let her lick my face, inhale her dog smell, rub her belly and not even care if fur gets on me or of it's my seventh cup of coffee. Thank you.
Well said, Gary! *
I like where this goes. And yes, with Syria and all the rest of the craziness, it's timely indeed. *
You do in a couple of lines what most people need an entire book to get across.*
Great title and even better words that follow. I especially like the second heart-squeeze at the end.
A balancing act indeed. *
