About Me

would-be novelist,
flash fictionist,
non-fiction dabbler,
hopeful cynic,
fish out of water,
mom.

I earned my MA in Creative Writing from Lancaster University, UK. I've written two novels, and the last one wasn't half bad. I hope some wise, brave soul will publish it soon. My work appears in or is forthcoming from Atticus Review, Eclectic Flash, Ink Sweat and Tears, Melusine, Metazen, The Mom Egg, The Other Room, PANK, Short Fast and Deadly, and SmokeLong Quarterly. My essay "X-rays Are My Souvenirs" won Hippocampus Magazine’s 2011 Contest for Creative Non-Fiction (http://bit.ly/rXgwmN). I do my best to explain myself here: www.susanrukeyser.com

Now and then I tweet: www.twitter.com/SusanRukeyser

Why do you write?

I write to escape, to belong, and because I can't stop. Believe it, I've tried.
