Prayers and Plastic Wrap
by Lynn Beighley
Because as I see it,
or as I don't
Or maybe as I see it through a
big pile of
chocolate chip cookies
under Saran Wrap, as I was saying, as I see it
prayers are better than
chocolate chips
prayers are better than Saran wrap
prayers are better than.
The effort involved in making
my chocolate chip cookies,
do you know? They're not
easy. No. Not easy. My kids
well, my kids distract me
constantly. Here I am,
trying to bake these things,
my mini-prayers and
my phone ring, kids chatter, dogs
bark and bark and husbands
remain absent. I'm making you cookies
because it's my prayer for you.
Cookies.
And the beginnings of metabolic syndrome...
Say a little prayer for me :)
Wonderful trope. Effective writing, Lynn.
"do you know? They're not
easy. No. Not easy. My kids
well, my kids distract me"
You've stolen my life! Stop it!

Praying before the preying.
Love it. All true. fv*
Excellent. *
I feel that way about chocolate anything. *
Devotion finely wrought.
"husbands
remain absent" *
Poignant and powerful in so few words. Fav.
"I'm making you cookies
because it's my prayer for you." - sweet and wonderful.
Love and the frustration of faith is what I come away with. *
I will pray for your cookies. Yes ma'am. Please pray for my walnut brownies.
