Awaiting What the Afternoon May Bring
by Gary Hardaway
Another beheading. Another
clutch of hemorrhagic fever deaths.
Another report of iCloud
celebrity photo snowfall.
Another siege
with kamikaze fervor.
Another disappointing,
long anticipated IPO.
Another calculational confirmation
that the universe we see
is but a holographic projection
of the one we never will.
How many deaths will it take to know... Terrible but true.
Feels real and urgent, Gary.
So awfully true and concise.

The psalm-like form makes this resonate for me.*
Each stanza is contained yet taken together the whole is much greater the the sum of the parts.*
The wearying tom-tom beat of Doom. *
**** and what Gary P. said.
I see they publish the same stuff in newspapers in Texas as they do in California. *
Thank you, Sam, Michelle, Letitia, Amanda, Gary, Matt, R.K.,and Jake.
Really good, Gary.
Love the concluding couplets.
The world is always ending becasuse it always is. *
Thank you, Bill.
Chris, that is such a brilliant insight. Also would make a great title or prompt.
