Starlight Standup
by Gary Hardaway
The clouds have broken. Stars
and galaxies bright enough
shine through smaze and glare
of luminares that light the streets
and shopping center parking lots.
They wink at me as if to share
a cosmic joke whose punch line's still
a couple dozen light years out
which, when it comes, is killer.
Smaze is drier than smog.
Love it. Cuts through the smaze. *
Great way to open. Good poem.
Thank you, Steve, and thank you Jake, and thank you, Sam.
One of the best opening lines I've read in a while.*
Never too many poems about stars and galaxies for me. I like your twist on the theme very much. *
Thank you, Amanda, and thank you, Charlotte.
