Pain as Mnemonic Device
by Gary Hardaway
If something hurts enough
you never forget it. Like the
toothache when you first learned
first hand about the need for root canals.
You are always your own best anecdote in
the ongoing study of pain as aid to memory.
Great punch line, but did you have to mention root canals? Ow ow! *
And here I'd forgotten my root canal!

This poem lights a candle in understanding. I am reminded, though it may be distantly related, of a quotation I read recently from Maya Angelou, who noted that people often forget what you say or what you do but they do not forget how you make them feel. I kept that one in mind for days, as I shall keep this poem in mind. *
Yes. Especially connect with this line -
"You are always your own best anecdote"
Good poem.
I have had days of late during which a root canal would have been a welcome reprieve.
:)
Clever work.*
"You are always your own best anecdote"
Great.
