Deliberate Music
by Gary Hardaway
I can enjoy the linguistically lavish operations
wherein the poet makes deliberate music out of words:
the gaudy mysteries of Stevens,
the o'erwrought speeches of the Bard.
My emulations always fail. At heart,
I don't want bougainvillea nor blushing pilgrims
but knives and sharp tined pitchforks
piercing complacency with tidy slash and thrust
Nice. Love that second stanza. *
I want knives and pitchforks, too. Yes, yes, yes!
And a stick of dynamite in the back pocket. *
"My emulations always fail." *
"the o'erwrought speeches of the Bard."
Agreed.*
Yep. You nailed it. *
"knives and sharp tined pitchforks"
In poetry, absolutely!
Yep
You are accomplishing what you intend.*
Btfly done Gary. Love the language here...*
