The Reward of Work is Harder Work
by Gary Hardaway
Work to bring them profits. Facilitate
corrupt reversal of anything noble
in noblesse oblige. If you stop, you starve
and they just offer what you do
to others, starved already,
and schooled, as you, in servitude.
You are the fatty fuel
they burn, hour by deadly hour,
in their elaborate machines.
Oh goodness - "You are the fatty fuel / they burn, hour by deadly hour"
A piece showing our beastly side. Good piece, Gary.
Thank you, Sam.
And no food stamps, no health care. *
What Sam said. And I have to tell you, Gary, I'm a huge Studs Terkel fan :) Nice job!
Too much truth in this. Nicely done. *
Bulls Eye, brother. I'm probably going to steal this in a few years, just FYI. Not all of it, but most, and I'll make sure it's of a "sample" length so you can't sue. Structured really well. This is one reason I always check out your posts. It's like baseball, sooner or later you get to see a home run.
This must be what they really mean when they tell you ,
" Work is its own reward." Great piece.
It's a pie-eating contest where the prize is more pie.
Arbeit macht frei *
Wonderful comments from all but I'm partial to that from Barry Basden. Perfect.
