Star Light, Star Bright
by Gary Hardaway
By the time
I apprehend the light,
its source has changed—
dimmed, brightened, or blacked.
My understanding is obsolete.
I am experience and information
at a small but irredeemable remove.
I am always and only what was.
Humbling isn't it. *
Lyrical physics. Nice.
The opening made me think of Keats's urn, Gary. Great closing line.
Fascinating piece.*
Like this a lot. *
So much for living in the moment. I like the physics and the philosophical levels of this compact but powerful piece.*
Thanks to everyone for the readings and commentary. I am grateful.
Terrific.
*
It's all relative...*
When I look at the stars again (it is raining today), I will think of this. *
Thank you, Bill, Gary, and Beate.
*
Thank you, Christian.
"I am always and only what was." **
It's always a satori moment when one realizes some of the stars you see have already burned out. *
Thank you, R.K. and Daniel.
