Estelle-Thanks for reading The Uninvited Guest. I really appreciate your comment on the realism of it. It's really a challenge to write this kind of story and not go too far with it, or have it fall short in some way!
Hi Estelle! Thanks for commenting on my birthday poem! Why do mothers get all the blame? Because without them, none of this nonsense would be going on. :)

Thanks for connecting with "Welcome Back," Estelle. Yes, a story like that is, well, memorable to say the least. It's a more or less true story, too. That poor woman! I had nightmares about that kind of thing when I was a kid: causing something awful--and irreversible.
Estelle, I spent a month in Paris when I was a young man. I had a good time. I was interested in the gaudy ladies indeed, but only to look at. I was a good Lutheran boy. Now I am a bad ex-Lutheran boy. Things have changed.

Estelle -- thank you for your read of my story X. I am glad it moved you, sorry it brings back memories that are not so good. We all have those; writing about them is one way to remember and honor the dead. Thank you so very much for reading.
My comment on "writing for you" was because you identify yourself as a humor writer. Most members here don't think of themselves in this context.
I write mostly humor or its derivatives; then a little bit of something else, but not much of it.
I was glad to find a humor person here. It was that simple.
Cheers.
PS. I'm also going to work on not writing cryptic posts.
The officer was probably making a very, very lame & offensive joke. My Dutch friend did everything he could to make life miserable for the occupiers. He was a brave--and lucky--guy. Thanks for the read and fav for "The Star of David."

Not to worry, Estelle. The folks at the Senior Center are pretty lively. The people in my class are amazing. They range in age from 60 to 90. Some are spry; some are not. I have a 90 something woman in the class who has taught the yoga class at the center for thirty years. She's a fine poet, too.
Estelle, you are always so kind! Thanks for the positive review of "Snowed In." As you point out, I was greatly influenced by Hemingway (and Carver) early on. I loved E.H.'s "Forty-nine Stories."
Estelle - Mailer would probably have laughed after trying to kill me. Then he might've gone ahead with further the joke by appearing on air in a pink tu-tu, depending on his mood and medication.
Estelle, I got a kick out of your comments about "Quitting." Actually, I don't blame my wife for not quitting. She's a nurse and she knows how hard it is and why, and also she saw how nuts I was after I quit!

Thank you for your comment on my story, Daddy, can I have a puppy? Cheers.
Oh, no! You and Susan together and on the loose? Look out world! Seriously, I'm going to add your name to my Favorite People list. Susan's already on there.
Estelle -- thank you for your read of my story X. I am glad it moved you, sorry it brings back memories that are not so good. We all have those; writing about them is one way to remember and honor the dead. Thank you so very much for reading.
Thank you for reading The Burning Bed.
Estelle, thanks for commenting on my bad dream story. Thanks for the fav as well!
Estelle, you are always so supportive. Thank you for your comment on my rehab story. I needed that!
Thank you for the read/comment on Addict. After reading your profile a bit I suspect I may have written it for you.
ps I feel doubly honoured seeing that you write humour. (Aussie spelling)
I'm really pleased you enjoyed Purple Patch, Estelle, - it was fun writing it.
The officer was probably making a very, very lame & offensive joke. My Dutch friend did everything he could to make life miserable for the occupiers. He was a brave--and lucky--guy. Thanks for the read and fav for "The Star of David."
Glad you liked Red Fox Rampant, Estelle :-)
Estelle, I've always loved the myth of Leda and the Swan, and of course the sculpture in the Met is so stunning. The story came out of that. Thanks for your kind read and comments
Estelle,
Please don't misunderstand me. I was very grateful for your comment on "Blossoms and Buds." I found it very helpful. I really appreciate the reading and the response. Thank you.
Bill
Estelle, thank you for reading Doreen - III. Your comments and suggestions are very helpful and greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your comment on "Blossoms and Buds." I meant "feel" literally, feeling the powder of the crushed petals on your fingers.
Thanks, Estelle, for your comments on "Pacific Light" ...very happy it connected to something real in your life.
Thanks, Estelle, for commenting on Pleiku Jacket.
I figure my stint of apartment living was good preparation for assisted living, which for me may be next.
Thanks muchly for your nice comments on FTKOMC!
Estelle, thank you! I've been thinking about your cat since the reading. Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Estelle, thanks for commenting on Four Thousand. It was different for me, so I appreciate the eyes.
Thank you very much, Estelle, for your comment to Drug War Snitch. And I appreciate you listing it with your favorites. I'll attempt to keep that same intensity as the story progresses.
Thank you for commenting on Thunder Snow. I'm glad you liked the poem.
Dan, thanks for responding about Carver and his wife. I had a feeling ------- I think I baught 3 of his books when I first read him. One for each of my kids. Very nice read.
Thank you for your comment on "The Letter." I notice that you list Raymond Carver among your favorite writers. He and his first wife, Maryann, inspired this story.
Jack, glad to hear your group are lively. Some I hear about do nothing but play bingo. ugh
Oh, no! I've got to write an ending? How about a "chapter two"? (See my latest post.)
Thanks for the read
Thank you here for your kind "A Lot of Things to Tell You" comments.
Very best,
RR

Hi Estelle - thanks for reading Cactus. Based on your comment, I think you got just what I was going for.
Estelle, I got a kick out of your comments about "Quitting." Actually, I don't blame my wife for not quitting. She's a nurse and she knows how hard it is and why, and also she saw how nuts I was after I quit!
