... fifty faves ... and my comment on Pyramid just now pushed it to 100! Spooky! Oh and thanks so much for visiting my piece, "Central Washington State On Five Dollars A Day." What an honor to hear from one of the very best at the game.
hi Robert! Thanks for stopping by Cornfield and leaving your comment. Glad it worked -- and I'm especially glad I can take you on unexpected journeys. That is a lovely thing to say. Thank you.
Hi Robert. Thanks for reading "The Fire Escape." Again. I remember how anxious I was to send this piece to you. Happy you liked it enough to include it in such a fine publication. Ever grateful!
Thank you, Robert for reading "Menthol." Your comment means the world to me. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you during your last visit to NYC. The KGB reading looked amazing in pictures. Cheers!
Hi Robert-- Nice to see you back here, if even for a moment. Thanks for reading and remarking on "Good Times." I think many writers' families have a bit of the old man in them (or old lady, as the case may be). We love them and resent them as we pack the experiences they provide into trunks and bags that lie gathering dust until we are ready to open them and air them out. All writers are big, fat liars, of course, but there is always that germ of truth hidden behind the fanciful interpretation.
Thanks, Robert (for reading "The Man of the Blue Ski Jacket"). We just hunkered down during Hurricane Sandy. I did lots of reading so it felt more like no frills artistic retreat. So many are still going without. It's a bad deal.
Hi Robert! I just found your nice note about my story The Artists' Conk on my wall. Sorry not to reply for a month.
To answer your question, I'm not originally from Upstate NY though I've lived here outside Ithaca for 18 years. I grew up in Minneapolis.
Hi Robert, sorry for the late thank-you, but I haven't forgotten. Moved to Germany, so I've been a bit busy. Anyway, thanks for the read and comment on Happy Hour - much appreciated. fos.
Hi Robert. Thanks for the note. I posted "White Legs" a few days ago, if you want to take a look. I think you might like it. Look forward to your comments at the WS, and congrats on all your new publications!
Hi Robert! Thanks so super muchly for your nice comment on my interview by Meg! I don't seem to be able to reply directly there, but it may possibly be because I am a moron, not sure. If you are ever interested in reading, or better yet reading in a play/performance style for my Rabbit Tales series in DUMBO BK, second Thursday of every month, please be in touch-- it's reading and performance and I think I remember you being somewhat into performance or writing for it and I'm trying more for that these days. Just give me a few weeks notice if you'll be in town and you are booked to do what you wish! It's always a super happy fun time! All excellent! kate
Robert ~ Just now read your welcoming message. My dad's twin brother practiced law in Milwaukee. Used to watch the Braves and Packers in County Stadium growing up. My favorite "big city". I grew up in Columbus.
Robert, thanks for your generous read of "Outside Starbucks...". Much appreciated! and hope all is well--are you in your DC poetry workshop now? Peace...
Hi Robert! Very much appreciate the interaction on my post office piece. One of the amusements of contemporary life. Although I suppose we could still be sending messages tied to the leg of a homing pigeon, so I shouldn't really complain! ;-) Thanks for the read, the comment and the Fave!
Hi Robert, thanks for spending a few minutes with 9 and 5, I really appreciate it. Your fictionaut pic reminds me of John Lennon's Rock & Roll album - the cover has him standing in a doorway, leaned against the jam. Anyway, thanks. You gonna make it to KGB in June? fos.
Hi Robert! Thanks so much for read and commenting on "Disappointment"! I really enjoy the interaction and value the feedback. Yes, I'm sure we could spend an entire Grateful Dead weekend and then some telling stories about the halcyon days of our wayward youth!
You are kind and generous in your comments, Robert. I feel extremely lucky to have come into your orbit. Thanks for faving "The Hotel Where Esenin Hanged Himself."
Hi Robert, I loved seeing the video of you reading in Chicago! Great piece, great performance. Thanks for reading and commenting on my bike story, appreciate that. fos.
Robert! Thank you for the recent comment on my story Almost There, and for all the support you have shown this one. It is very close to my heart, as you know, and your support means so very much.
Hey Robert! Thanks so much for stopping by to partake in the nuttiness of "The Last of the Hard Boiled Dicks" and to make such a warm and encouraging comment. I appreciate it so much. And thanks for the *! Silliness abounds!
Robert, thanks for your kind words on I Remember Kitty D. This story felt pretty effortless for me, I think because I have eben steeped in so many memories of late. Winter does that to me at times, pulls me inside myself, my history. Peace...
Robert, thank you so much for the good wishes! Word has it that the first print run is nearly sold out already! I'm so excited. Thanks for being so cool.
Hi Robert
Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment on "This Is How It Is" I appreciate it very much and really value your observations and comments!
mgm
Robert, thank you dear one. As I grow older I have discovered that life just happens. It's the strength we somehow find within ourselves to deal with life that makes us who we are. Blah, blah, blah.
Thanks for reading "New Song of Innocence and Experience." The challenge is always taking oneself seriously and not seriously in balance, and knowing the difference.
Hi Robert! Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on "Conversation at a Lunch Counter" Grateful and appreciative. Also-thanks again for inviting me to Fictionaut - it's only been 8 weeks but it has totally transformed my approach to writing!
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on "Grace" Robert! Your insight and suggestions relative to the organization of the piece are greatly appreciated and will be carefully considered, as I find am still tinkering with the structure. It all came out as one outburst on a wave of emotion, and then I found myself rewriting and revising for the next solid week. I'm going to play around with your idea. Thanks so much.
Hey, thanks, Robert. Still learning about the site. I plan to put something up soon. Just want to figure out what the site's main function is and how to use it. Any suggestions?
Dear Robert--thank you for commenting on my story. But mostly I want to thank you for your kindness and generosity of spirit. There are days when things feel so futile and yours is one of the voices which helps me through to the other side / to keep trying--thank you, Robert, may the coming year be a good one for you---Bobbi
Thanks so much for reading and commenting on Elegy for the Zuccotti republic. I don't think I've EVER used this much dialogue in a piece - and the one I am working on right now has no dialogue whatsoever - in terms of duality - I have been both characters in this story. Thanks for reading and commenting - grateful and appreciative!
hi Robert, thank you so much for your terrific, kind, perceptive comments and for the 'fave'. I am finding Fictionaut to be a wonderful place, so kind of you to welcome me and read my work. Thanks so, so much, I loved how you described the effect of the metaphor, you have no idea how much these comments are appreciated!
Thanks for the comment on my latest piece! Yes - "MGM" has always been my brush with fame! I even have those initials branded on one of my my guitar cases. Thank you so much for reading and offering very valuable insight! Gratitude and appreciation!
Hey Robert, thanks for your comment on Chairs and Mirrors - I appreciate your thoughts and encouragement, I appreciate that you take the time to read, to comment. fos.
Hi Robert: I'm pleased my work appears effortless. That one was actually ten years in the making ; ) Thanks for your ongoing support. I am pleased to have you as a reader and love your enthusiasm. You're a peach.
Thanks for commenting on "Fish Boil," Robert! Great comment as always.
Thanks for asking about the volume! You know me--always tinkering. Just sent the latest edit of the ms to the publisher. I'm close! I'll be sure to let you know.
Robert- Thanks so much for reading, commenting and putting a gold star next to my name on the blackboard! haha! The name Chicken on a Wire, has always stuck in my head because it was such a surrealistic use of language. The basic story just kind of came to me, so I researched bull riding to write a short piece about overcoming fear, our mystical bond with animals and the quirky, outlandish names given to rodeo bulls. One of my readers raised the question about cruelty to animals, and while it is a provocative question and certainly one worthy of further investigation, I think the bulls definitely had the upper hand throughout this piece, and ended up being sympathetic protagonists in their own right. One thing I learned from researching this is that the bulls are treated like absolute rock stars and super star athletes. They are given their own scores and rated like the riders, and, needless to say, are quite pampered. There's a whole subculture going on here that I know very little ab
Robert, thanks for your comment on my Twain story and--gee whiz--a fave, too! I agree with your choice of words, too. Indeed it has because a desperate and dispiriting situation.
Thanks for the invitation and the welcome Robert! Holy Cow! Once glance at your page tells me I've got some work to do!!!! I am really looking forward to it.
Hey. I appreciate the welcome, thanks, Robert. I chose 'Bacon and Eggs, 1977' for my first Robert Vaughn piece and was not disappointed. Thanks so much.
hi robert, i happen to be up for a change, am writing, and your kind and generous note comes just right to revive the snoozing spirit. the answer is, i suppose, it's channeled, all that works as writing must be channeled, and i know you knew that, because it's what you do, too...thanks!
I see you mentioned Gina Berriault as a fav writer. I knew her, studied under her at San Francisco State. I felt she was under appreciated there. She was a gem and nobody knew it. She lived with the writer of a great book, Fat City, Leonard Gardner. He was a great guy, too. It saddened me when I heard Gina died. She was a wonderful writer and person.
Yes, Robert, I've read your story. It does seem like we're on the same wavelength here. I've seen you a lot on Fictionaut, and I'm actually interested in reading more of your stories. It seems like one could spend a lot of time on this site. I feel like a bit of a rookie, still. Thanks for being welcoming to the new kid.
Robert, Thank you for another excellent review! I've seen some twisters at a distance, one up close & personal. Don't want to go through another. Got enough to worry about living as I do on an earthquake fault!
Robert-- You, my talented friend, are a gentleman and a scholar. Thanks for the goodness about my piece "May You Live in Interesting Times." I appreciate you.
Hey RV! It's great to be back creeping into my routine. I think I even wrote and submitted something yesterday, but then I still have a bit of jetlag. I might have just downloaded porn. Thank you for commenting on "Husk of Hare." And thank you for the welcome back. Sweet.
Thank you for posting in the forum about The Lost Children Challenge; the contest is open until Thursday 9/8 at midnight, so please write an entry if you are so inclined.
Robert: How lovely to wake up and read your kind words about my poem "Play" this morning. Loved your interview and pic. too. You're gonna be famous, kid!
Glad you liked the Chagall story, Robert. It was great fun to write. I'm sure I stole the idea for a story based on a painting or drawing, but I can't remember when & where & who.
Hi Robert, that sounds like quite an adventure! Thanks for giving Eight States Away a bit of your time - I always appreciate the read and your comments. fos.
Hi Robert, I'm a bit late with this, but thanks for reading and commenting on Cactus. I've been meaning to drop you a note, just got busy. But really, thanks! fos.
Hi Robert, thanks for taking time to read and comment on 'Reasons'. Written originally to lighten up a gallery talk or some such artsiness :) & all credit to Letterman's writers for making the form part of our culture. Was a fun little piece, glad you enjoyed.
Thanks Robert for your lovely words on The Lake Husband. It's funny as I revise a novel I completed a while ago - not the one in progress from which The Lake Husband is taken - it's a solitary pursuit, great as it is, but it hasn't allowed me the time or mental energy to partake in FN right now, and I found that I was needing to read some work and put a piece of mine out there for some response to know that I was still alive! So thank you for reading and the lovely encouragement.
Hi there! Thanks for the welcome -- thought I've been slow to respond. I found your list of associations/memberships very helpful as a new writer in Wisconsin. Thank you!
Your most enthusiastic comment on "Borrowed Bottle of Bud" made me laugh quite loudly. My dog stared at me.
Anyway, thank you for that, the fave, and being "The Vaughan."
Robert: You are a gem. Thank you for your enthusiastic responses after reading both "Release" and "Vignette for Spring." Your kindness is much appreciated.
Gracias, Roberto, for reading/commenting/faving Snapshot and The Good Farmer. Mostly, though, for your support -- you're a good egg. Can't wait for the return of Fridays!
Thank you, Robert. I was so pleased to have Thunderclap accept "Happy Hour." Your words are very kind. I'm still picturing a guy with whipped cream on his heels ; )
Thank you for the fav on "Echolocation Signals". It will be published in the fall issue of the Wilderness House Literary Review. I would love to submit to one of your publications and will definitely look into doing so soon.
Hey RV, (hmmm...think I like that for a nickname...prob too late...it got worn out in h.s., right?)
Many thanks for the invite and welcome. This place is like a crack house for addicts of good writing -- the supply never runs out. Appreciate you sharing your source with a fellow junkie. By the way, you're The Man here, RV. Mind if I follow behind in your draft?
Robert, thanks for your comments last week on "Drive." I returned to Fictionaut, just before I went on vacation for a week (which is why I'm late thanking you)!
Robert, thank you for the astute comments about "Hat Trick." I see you have background in playwrighting. That explains, a bit, at least, why your own stuff is so tight and clean. No words to spare onstage, yes? EVERYTHING counts. As it does in your prose, movingly so.
Robert - thanks for the great comments on Paper House & remembering it from metazen. Seems like dialogue & characters are my forte, at least in stories apart from poems. Yep, the 52 run was incredible, what seemed like an interminable time when we did it now seems like it went by in a flash. More to come, as you know, but at a much more sane pace.
Howdy, Robert! I appreciate your suggestion on "mourning." It makes sense in keeping with those "-ing" endings. (That's why I love this place so much. The feedback is wonderful.) On a separate note: I really enjoyed your radio segment from Friday. It's always fun to hear a voice of someone you've never spoken to or met. Yours is pleasant to listen to and perfect for reading poetry. Thanks, again!
Thanks for faving "The Lost Boys," Robert. Lump in the throat, ache in the heart. I fear for these kids, but as I wrote Marcus Speh, maybe every older generation sees a younger generation as "lost."
Hi Robert! Thank you so much for the very positive feedback to my story A June Defection! I'm very glad to hear you enjoyed it and appreciate your comment a lot. I'm a little stunned, actually. :)
I'm always thankful for a comment from Robert Vaughan!! You are so insightful and I am loving your work, as always! Keep it coming!!! Thanks for the kind words on "Couple Busting."
thank you robert for yr comment on <a href="http://www.fictionaut.com/stories/marcus-speh/under-the-apple-tree">under the apple tree</a>. i continue to find the collaboration with an artist/non-artist, my own child, most gratifying. it helps me get to places that i didn't know where there. your work is very visual too and i love that.
Robert, Great insite! I worked for eight years rid myself of the big rocks and still have a sizable pile of pebbles to deal with. Writing is my therapy now. Each time I am able to reveal part of myself in my work those stones turn to pebbles and the pebbles to dust. Thank so much for seeing this piece for exactly what it is.
Gosh - what a generous review! I'll be reading it over the phone to my mum this weekend. Thank you so much for the kind words and also the opportunity to place work here. Much appreciated.
Hi Robert! NYC is a great place to grow up isn't it? Thanks for the comments and fave on "Summertime City"! If a fellow New Yorker liked it then I know I'm on the right path.
I thanked you for your welcome and your comment - but I did it on my own wall which I've just realized is probably wrong. I am new around these parts. But thank you!
Thanks for faving "Hitting the Wall," Robert. I can't tell you how many magazines I sent that to and got absolutely no interest. Really appreciate your comment and enthusiasm for it.
Roberto Peron, so glad you liked "Tool"! Me, a playright? Noooo... I'm the Director/Producer. No shenanigans! You will not gain control over the production no matter how much you lay on the flattery!
Hi Robert!
Thanks a million for your kind words about the "Ineffective Metaphors" piece I put up. As your wall attests, you are a generous and supportive fictionauter. (Is that the right word?) I look forward to checking out jmww and reading your work.
Rob, thanks for what you wrote about In Unison. So you got a little creeped out, too, huh? Well I can't wait to sink my creepy little claws into your soft little heart!! Ha ha! 'til soon..... very soon......
Dear Robert,
Thank you so much for your amazingly generous comments on "Sinister Age of the Draft" and all my other stories! I love your work and it means so much coming from you! Loved "The Outlaw," your latest!!!
Hi Robert, I'll look to you for poetry recommendations. My picks are a bit "classic rock" in the best sense of the word as it might pertain to poetry. I noticed you listed Raymond Chandler, which I've been reading a bit lately to get better at quick descriptions.
Robert, thanks for faving "The Truth Will Out." It hardly deserves that, but thanks just the same! Lost all my gmail messages, but perhaps hackers are just Nature's way of saying, "Clean up all your crap!"
Robert, thanks so much for your comment on "Dorothy's Parker House Rolls." I bet you had a great time reading your favorite Parker pieces. She is inescapably funny. I see you are the fiction editor for jmww. I may send a recipe your way very soon.
Dear Robert, Have to thank you for always taking the time to read and send insightful comments on my stories! I am a fan of your work, you know, and so it means so much to get a note back from Robert or see a Robert story posted! Sorry, I'm late on the commenting. Just found these comments on Fictionaut. I'm definitely not a veteran here!!! Thanks for all! You rock!!!
Robert - thank you so much for your touching comments on Now and Then, and for the fave. It truly made my day! Thanks also for the nudge forward in expanding the story - I am working on it. Cheers ;)
Hi, Robert. I just saw your comment. I want to say "you're welcome," but feel you should instead be thanked. I was thrilled to see the response for "The Passenger." I'm grateful to you both for the reconsideration of the ending, and for allowing me to feature it on TrainWrite.
dear robert, thanks for your very kind compliments. just read your "reasons to write" today again and the "i write when I miss my mother, or father..." touched me more than i can say. connected greetings from berlin!
"Fidget" is a good fit for me now: You'll never meet a more nervous person.
Actually, the story of how I got my nickname is this: In my group of friends eleven or so years ago, I lamented the fact that that I was the only one who lacked a nickname. "Probably because all I do is make fun of A Flock of Seagulls videos and fidget controllably."
"Well," Adam replied. "There you go, Fidget."
It stuck for so long because it's a perfect fit. I'm pretty sure there's people out there who know me only as "Fidget".
I'm sure that's more than you wanted to know, but thanks for the (re)welcome to Fictionaut all the same.
Hey Robert, thanks so much for reading Busride. And yes, maybe he will reemerge elsewhere. I think bus drivers have lost their edge these days, no more smoking, swearing, yelling, singing, feel sorry for the new generation...
Robert, thank you so much for the thoughtful comments on "and then I will ask if it is beautiful." I appreciate your insight and am grateful for the encouragement.
Thanks very much for the welcome! I definitely intend to read many stories and post more of my own work. Very exciting to see all the great writing. :)
Hey Robert - thanks for the congrat's on Elsie's World's pubbing - as long as no one expects anything more than stories with no point (really) & a good table-leveler, I should be okay.
Thanks for the very kind words and fave on Sins of the Father, Robert! I'm so happy you like my relationship stories. It's awesome to hear someone else's take on your work!
Robert,
Thanks for your very kind comment on and fave of "Whiplash Marriage." How do I do it? That's what James Lloyd Davis keeps asking me. I don't know what to tell him either!
Robert, thanks so much for reading X - your observations make my day, already. So good to be gotten, as I can tell you know. (Particularly in tricky instances such as X.) You - I like why you write, so looking forward to checking that out.
robert, you're way too kind. happy holidays to you too and thank you so much for your compliment on "winter". may we all emerge from it with even more creative power than we already have...and you've got more than enough. wish i could see one of your plays - alas, europe.
What is it about that story "mark" that just draws you guys? hmmm. must have put a lot of testosterone into that one, ha! a pyschic once told me i have a male spirit.
Robert! You made my day! Thanks for the love, I can feel it all the way over here. Back at you (I can never bring myself to write 'ya' or even 'atcha' even though I know that expression warrants it -- it just does not come out right when my fingertips go to the keys... but the sentiment is wholehearted, indeed)!
Thanks for your note, and the welcome. I did actually have something in the last JMWW, a review of a book of poetry. But no fiction or verse in there so far...
Robert, thanks for the welcome to Fictionaut. I'm still looking around the place, bouncing on the furniture, sinking my toes into the carpet. So far, I rather like it here.
Hi Robert! Good to "see" you here. I think I had forgotten you were on the jmww staff. I will, indeed, send something. I think I may have to go underground again and work on the new stories for awhile. Very good stories here aren't there! Cheers.
Thanks for the welcome. I haven't quite figured this place out yet...
And yes, I should write something here. I look forward to reading your work.
Right now.
For your wonderful comment on my story “Monsieur Editor and Madame Malaprop” – merci beaucoup! I’m thrilled you enjoyed it, Robert. You’ve made me feel most welcome on my Fictionaut maiden voyage.
Thanks for your welcome yesterday, Robert, and the invitation to a newcomer to dive right in. I took the plunge this morning by posting on Fictionaut my first flash fiction.
Yes, I love Fictionaut and The Nervous Breakdown. Great you had a piece up there. I wish I could have stayed the featured author up there indefinitely...
I'd love to get together! That's nice as hell of you to offer. I live in West Bend, a 45 minute or so spin from Milwaukee. Do you read stories for a fee outside of round tables?
Hello Robert, i was/am going to take a round table class with you. but i'm currently tied up with another novel endeavor, so i must wait. I believe Judy Bridges was going to give you a heads up about me joining the r.t. i have one story up on my wall that came out in KNOCK but it's not my best. once the newer stories are out in print, one in Narrative and the other in Tampa Review, another in Shamballa Sun, i'll post those. one of my shorts was a finalist for the Danahy Award and also longlisted for the Fish Anthology... or if you want we could exchange stories via email...
Robert, Thanks for the kind words about my stories. I'm pleased that you are enjoying the reads in Spiders. Congratulations on your slew of publications of late. You are on a roll!
Hey Robert,
I'm happy you joined LBL, can't wait to read some of your pieces! I also noticed that you are a vegetarian - kudos! :) I've been one for pretty much my entire life.
Have a lovely Saturday.
Kait
Hey Robert...thanks for the note! I've been off the F'Naut grid a bit...some family stuff here and there, hope to get dialed in again soon. You are certainly on a roll...liked Pheasant Lane, great stuff!
Hi, Robert. Thank you for the welcome. I'm looking forward to exploring this place. I see you are a WordPress user. I hold a special place in my heart for all things WordPress. It's the geek in me. :)
Thank you for your comment. Most of what I have written is because I found fictionaut - there's a fair amount of inspiration here; before this, I hardly wrote.
I am still in Bombay; always have been. India is indeed a fascinating country, warts and all. And Bombay is well, Bombay, wouldn't trade it for anything.
Should be tomorrow, Wednesday at the latest. I've managed a few new pieces in the last couple of days but will glad to see everything else again shortly. In the meantime, congrats on your piece in the latest S, F & D! Glad to see several familiar faces. Thanks as always for your support.
Thanks Robert for your writing on my wall. I didn't realize you had read some of my work, so thank you for that that. I see I have various pieces of yours to get to! I look forward to it.
Thanks for your note, RV - not sure where I am these days. I did see "Moon" with Sam Rockwell recently--an excellent flick, but not a place I'd like to live. The search continues.
Hi Robert, um no, theatre as an avenue of communication is forever on lockdown to me after some differences of opinion about praxis! Thanks for sopping by my wall. Bests.
Hello Robert! Yes, I'm sorry to make that decision about Blink Ink but we have a lot of different projects going on and we really do want to focus on the printed issues. Glad to see you here and talk soon!
Thank you for the welcome, Robert. So looking forward to reading your work. If anything I write affects you, do spread the word; it's tough to be the new kid on the block. Best ~ J
Hi Robert! So nice to "see" you, too! Meg invited me and it's been FUN! Thanks for stopping by my profile! I will have to read some of your stuff. I'm not a very good prose writer yet, but I'm working on it. I am a poet, playing at prose! But, I'll keep making stabs at it, I guess! And by the way, I love Tennessee Williams, too...
... fifty faves ... and my comment on Pyramid just now pushed it to 100! Spooky! Oh and thanks so much for visiting my piece, "Central Washington State On Five Dollars A Day." What an honor to hear from one of the very best at the game.
Hey, loved 10,000 Dollar Pyramid, and it looks like my fave pushed it into the even five-oh club. Cheers!
Hi Robert,
Thank you for your wonderful comment on The Boy Who Knew Death. Appreciate the read and the fav'. :)
hi Robert! Thanks for stopping by Cornfield and leaving your comment. Glad it worked -- and I'm especially glad I can take you on unexpected journeys. That is a lovely thing to say. Thank you.
Hi Robert. Thanks so much for the kind words and star! I'm looking forward to seeing you in NY next month. You're a great source of support for me.
Thanks for the comment and *, Robert! Good seeing you here!
Thank You, Robert!
Robert, thank you again for getting me in here! I look forward to reading Microtones!
Robert--Thanks for the kind words about "Float to Water," and for the star. I'm lucky to have such a good supportive friend!
hi rob
Cheers!
Thanks, Robert!
Thanks for the welcome, Robert!
Hi Robert, thanks for the welcome!
Thanks for the welcome and comment! I'll be sure to check out some of your stuff. Hope you enjoy some of mine.
Thanks, Robert (for reading "The Man of the Blue Ski Jacket"). We just hunkered down during Hurricane Sandy. I did lots of reading so it felt more like no frills artistic retreat. So many are still going without. It's a bad deal.
Hello Robert, Thanks for the comments on Dog Days. I always appreciate your thoughts. fos.
Thank you for your sweet comment, Robert. It's nice seeing you again. :)
Hi, Robert!
Hi Robert, thanks for reading my micros! I know it didn't take much time, but still, I appreciate it. Thanks for the comment, too. fos.
Anyway, thanks for the read and comment on Happy Hour - much appreciated. fos.
Hi Robert! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for your kind words!!
Thanks for reading, Robert. :) Aloha!
Robert! My favorite. Always means much when you read and enjoy my writing. Thank you.
Robert, I appreciate the comment and the fav on "Honor Grade." I'm glad you liked it.
Such a kind comment on "Agra Road," Robert. Thank you! Really needed that today. Readers like you sustain me.
Thanks, Robert for faving "With A Hint of God." I'm trying to up my game a bit, go for the lyrical...will keep experimenting.
Hi Robert. Thanks for the note. I posted "White Legs" a few days ago, if you want to take a look. I think you might like it. Look forward to your comments at the WS, and congrats on all your new publications!
Hey, thanks, Robert, for the great comment on "Bees in the Eaves." Very pleased the poem worked for you. Thanks for the fave too!
Goodness, Robert. Thank you. Your words are too kind.
All excellent! kate
Thank you for the warm welcome, Robert. I look forward to interacting with you, learning from you.
Merci, Robert. Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to reading and sharing lots of stories on this site.
Robert ~ Just now read your welcoming message. My dad's twin brother practiced law in Milwaukee. Used to watch the Braves and Packers in County Stadium growing up. My favorite "big city". I grew up in Columbus.
Happy to be with you and the community here, Robert!
Hi Robert, thanks for dropping by and saying hello!
I greatly appreciated your enthusiastic comments on Pig Girl and loved your gem Wrestling with Genetics as well. Thanks.
Was great to meet you too, Robert, and to hear you read. AWP is definitely on my calendar for next year, so see you then!
It was great to meet you, Robert, and I loved your reading at KGB the other night.
Hi, Robert. Thanks for the sweet e-mail. I loved meeting you too, I just wish our time together was longer. Let's get meet up next time you're in NY.

Hi Robert! Very much appreciate the interaction on my post office piece. One of the amusements of contemporary life. Although I suppose we could still be sending messages tied to the leg of a homing pigeon, so I shouldn't really complain! ;-) Thanks for the read, the comment and the Fave!
Thanks for the kind words, Robert, and the star. Hope your Portland trip was great.
Robert,
Thanks for the greeting. Very kind of you.
Cheers,
Javy

Thanks, Robert for commenting on "Mercy Mercy Mercy."
Hi Robert,
Thanks for welcoming me to fictionaut back in March - took me over a month to post anything, but I have.
Love "Three for Carol".
Hi Robert, thanks for spending a few minutes with 9 and 5, I really appreciate it. Your fictionaut pic reminds me of John Lennon's Rock & Roll album - the cover has him standing in a doorway, leaned against the jam. Anyway, thanks. You gonna make it to KGB in June? fos.
Hi Robers, thanks for reading Cactus and thanks for the comment, too. Always appreciate your thoughts. fos.
Thanks, Robert. Your fave and comments on "A Piece of Him," mean a lot to me.

Thanks so much Robert! Without silly we would all go insane!

Looking forward to reading your piece in the beautiful Lost In Thought Magazine!
Love,
Berit
Robert, thanks for your kind words on I Remember Kitty D. This story felt pretty effortless for me, I think because I have eben steeped in so many memories of late. Winter does that to me at times, pulls me inside myself, my history. Peace...
Thanks a lot, Robert, much appreciation!
Robert, thank you so much for the good wishes! Word has it that the first print run is nearly sold out already! I'm so excited. Thanks for being so cool.

Robert, thank you dear one. As I grow older I have discovered that life just happens. It's the strength we somehow find within ourselves to deal with life that makes us who we are. Blah, blah, blah.
Thanks for the close and considerate read of my recent story. I'm always happy to have you read something of mine.
Merci beaucoup for the contact. A bi t busy shooting film but will catch your work as soon as can. IB

Also, I first wrote my response to you on my own wall and only realised my error when I received an email telling me I had responded to myself.
Amateur faux pas. Don't worry, I plan on getting a lot smarter :)

Thanks for your kind welcome Robert!
Any friend of Marcus that is a friend of mine I am also a friend of - so welcome new friend :)
This place looks like it could be most interesting -
Have a lovely day Robert and thanks again for the welcome :)

Hey, Robert, looking forward to reading more of you.

Thanks for faving "Magritte," Robert. I wrote it so long ago--it's cheering you still see "me" in it!

Thank you, Robert. Your words are so kind and I wear them on my heart.
hi Robert, thank you so much for your terrific, kind, perceptive comments and for the 'fave'. I am finding Fictionaut to be a wonderful place, so kind of you to welcome me and read my work.

Robert,
I am so pleased by your support and your appreciation of "Sounds of Silence".

hi robert, i happen to be up for a change, am writing, and your kind and generous note comes just right to revive the snoozing spirit. the answer is, i suppose, it's channeled, all that works as writing must be channeled, and i know you knew that, because it's what you do, too...thanks!
Thank you for reading Psych Interview with a Rape Victim. Much appreciated.

Good luck at the NYC reading. Wish I could be there!
Hi Robert. I don't even know you, but I love you! ; ) Thanks for liking For Captain Paul, and yes, we MUST meet. We must. Best--
I see you mentioned Gina Berriault as a fav writer.
Thanks for being welcoming to the new kid.

i'm trying to figure this out
Robert, Thank you for another excellent review! I've seen some twisters at a distance, one up close & personal. Don't want to go through another. Got enough to worry about living as I do on an earthquake fault!
Wow! Terrific review of my heron story. Thank you very much.
Robert-- You, my talented friend, are a gentleman and a scholar. Thanks for the goodness about my piece "May You Live in Interesting Times." I appreciate you.
Thank you for the welcome Robert!
Robert, thanks for your comments on "Ascend"!
Thanks for reading "A Fable of Leaves." It is a glorious world. Thanks for sharing it!

Don't know about "genius" but I'm pleased you liked "The Sum Above." Thanks, Robert!
Robert, Thanks for giving my story "The List" such a good review!
Thank you for reading September 11, 2001. It still makes me reel.

Thank you, sir.
Great comment on the Chattanooga poem. Thanks, Robert!
Hey RV! It's great to be back creeping into my routine. I think I even wrote and submitted something yesterday, but then I still have a bit of jetlag. I might have just downloaded porn. Thank you for commenting on "Husk of Hare." And thank you for the welcome back. Sweet.
Hi Robert,
Thanks for the drop by -- getting used to the digs -- need to get some furniture in here and visit the neighbors.
Thanks for the invite!
Robert: Your kind response to "The Lost Boy" made my day. I wish I did have you as a student. I suspect it would have been a lively class indeed!

Thank you for the kind words.
Hi Robert: Thanks for seeking out my little myth ditty and liking it. I appreciate the double read and fave.

Hi Robert! Thank you so much for the positive feedback on Early Summer. :) Thank you for reading and commenting. :)
Did you make the artwork in your picture? Like the contrast between the colors in the artwork and you wearing all white.
Hi Robert, thanks for taking time to read and comment on 'Reasons'. Written originally to lighten up a gallery talk or some such artsiness :) & all credit to Letterman's writers for making the form part of our culture. Was a fun little piece, glad you enjoyed.
Hi, Robert. Thanks for reading 'I Wouldn't Wanna Be Me.' I greatly appreciate your excellent comment. And the fave.
Robert thanks so much for all the sweet things you said about my poem "holding"
Great comment on "Four Noble Lies," Robert. Wow! Flattered. Thanks. And for the fave.
http://www.thebigview.com/buddhism/fourtruths.html

Hi Robert, I sincerely appreciate your comment on The Escapists, and thank you immensely for the little star :)
Thank you for reading & liking "Imago" Robert. I appreciate you stopping by...
Your most enthusiastic comment on "Borrowed Bottle of Bud" made me laugh quite loudly. My dog stared at me.
Anyway, thank you for that, the fave, and being "The Vaughan."
Robert, thank you for your encouragement. Means a lot.
Hi Robert, thanks for the comment and Fave on "Park Bench". So much to observe in such an everyday object.

Hey Robert, thanks for taking the time to read and comment on Bliss - I really appreciate that. fos.
Thanks for the welcome (there's a little learning curve here, so sorry for my late reply)! Say hello to Lake Michigan for me.
High praise from such a talented writer. Thanks, Robert. I had fun putting "Sweet Dreams" together.
Thank you for reading and commenting on Looking Both Ways. Glad you liked it.
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Thank you, Robert, for your thoughtful comments and suggestion for September Morning. I'm ever grateful for your support and ideas.
thank you robert for yr comment on <a href="http://www.fictionaut.com/stories/marcus-speh/under-the-apple-tree">under the apple tree</a>. i continue to find the collaboration with an artist/non-artist, my own child, most gratifying. it helps me get to places that i didn't know where there. your work is very visual too and i love that.
Hey you you! :) Back at you. Loved Don Ho's Ho.
Robert, thanks for reading and commneting on "Likely Story". Hope the words are coming quick and easy.
Hee hee. I meant "Three-handed Bridge." I need dinner.
Hey, you! Thank you for stopping by and commenting on "The Number 4" again. Sweet.
Thanks for reading my work Robert. Be well,

Robert, you are the best, really, thank you!
thanks!
Thank you for your very generous remarks on my piece for my mother on mother's day! I hope you're having a good week.
Hi Robert, I'll look to you for poetry recommendations. My picks are a bit "classic rock" in the best sense of the word as it might pertain to poetry. I noticed you listed Raymond Chandler, which I've been reading a bit lately to get better at quick descriptions.
Hi Robert. Thanks for reading Books and Covers, and thanks for the comment, too - means a lot! fos.
Hey, Robert :)
Thanks for commenting on "A Literary Separation" and thank you for the encouragement. Hope you're doing well.
Robert, wow! Your comment about "Men Are Beasts" is more than generous. Thank you very, very much! (Thanks for the fav, too: lucky 13!)
Robert, thanks for faving "The Truth Will Out." It hardly deserves that, but thanks just the same! Lost all my gmail messages, but perhaps hackers are just Nature's way of saying, "Clean up all your crap!"
Robert, thanks ever so much for your reading and comment on "David Foster Wallace meets the sage Lao Tse in a strange place."

Robert, I'm always glad to get a thumbs up from you. Thanks for your comment on "Big."
You're welcome, Robert, and me too!

Thanks, Robert, for your generous comment on my "bug" story. And congratulations to you for topping the charts this week with your Elimae story!
Hey Robert - thanks for the congrat's on Elsie's World's pubbing - as long as no one expects anything more than stories with no point (really) & a good table-leveler, I should be okay.

Thank you for such a great comment on "The Belt"! Hope the writing went well!
Hi Robert - thanks for the Thunderclap invite but I am a member already! But it's nice to eb thought of ... Matt

Indeed, Robert. Next will be Starbucks, maybe...
Robert,
Thanks for your note, and the welcome. I did actually have something in the last JMWW, a review of a book of poetry. But no fiction or verse in there so far...
Thanks,
Bill
Robert, thanks for the welcome to Fictionaut. I'm still looking around the place, bouncing on the furniture, sinking my toes into the carpet. So far, I rather like it here.
Thank you for the welcome! Looking forward to reading your work.
Thank you for the welcome!
Hi Robert! Good to "see" you here. I think I had forgotten you were on the jmww staff. I will, indeed, send something. I think I may have to go underground again and work on the new stories for awhile. Very good stories here aren't there! Cheers.
Robert, thanks for your comments on Check Engine. Much appreciated.
Thanks, Robert.
Thanks for the welcome. I haven't quite figured this place out yet...
And yes, I should write something here. I look forward to reading your work.
Right now.

Thanks for your welcome yesterday, Robert, and the invitation to a newcomer to dive right in. I took the plunge this morning by posting on Fictionaut my first flash fiction.
Hi! Thanks! You too! =)
Heya, thanks for the welcome! I'm loving the site already and the people here are much kinder than on other sites.
Thanks for the welcoming words.
Hi, Robert. Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to reading your work!
Thanks for the welcoming words. Happy to see there is another person with those particular literary likes out out in the world.
Thanks for the warm welcome, Robert :>
Hi Robert -
Yes, I love Fictionaut and The Nervous Breakdown. Great you had a piece up there. I wish I could have stayed the featured author up there indefinitely...
Marcy
Thanks for welcoming me to Fictionaut, Robert!
Hi Robert~thanks for your warm welcome to dive right in! I've just done a cannonball into the pool so I hope you check out my story.
Hello, Robert! Thanks for swinging by my wall. Looking very forward to spending more time here and posting some work! Very nice to "meet" you.
Robert, thank you for your lovely comments on Lake Chelan. I am so glad it made you want more!
Hi Robert! Thanks for the kind note on my wall. I've been traveling and not fictionauting much at all lately. Hope your summer is going well.
Kathy
Thanks Robert. Good to be here.
Hello Robert. Thanks for the warm welcome!
Hi, Robert. Thank you for the welcome. I'm looking forward to exploring this place. I see you are a WordPress user. I hold a special place in my heart for all things WordPress. It's the geek in me. :)
Hello, Robert.
Hi, Robert. Nice to meet you here, too.
Hey Robert,
Thank you for your comment. Most of what I have written is because I found fictionaut - there's a fair amount of inspiration here; before this, I hardly wrote.
I am still in Bombay; always have been. India is indeed a fascinating country, warts and all. And Bombay is well, Bombay, wouldn't trade it for anything.
Hey, Robert
Should be tomorrow, Wednesday at the latest. I've managed a few new pieces in the last couple of days but will glad to see everything else again shortly. In the meantime, congrats on your piece in the latest S, F & D! Glad to see several familiar faces. Thanks as always for your support.
Hi Robert, Thanks for the nice message on my wall. And Bravas! for all the great work you've done. Thaisa
Hi Robert, thanks for the welcome. I am familiar with JMWW although I didn't know that you had a group here on Fictionaut. Cheers.
Robert,
Considering your history, and all that you do now - all really impressive - I'd love your comments to some of my pieces!
Thanks Robert for your writing on my wall. I didn't realize you had read some of my work, so thank you for that that. I see I have various pieces of yours to get to! I look forward to it.
Wow! Thanks for the great review of "Naked Ladies." I have to confess I was just fooling around with bits and pieces of older stories.
Thanks for your note, RV - not sure where I am these days. I did see "Moon" with Sam Rockwell recently--an excellent flick, but not a place I'd like to live. The search continues.
Robert, what a beautiful thing you wrote to me, I was kind of stunned. Thank you for this
Susan
Thanks for the compliment.
Terese
Robert, thanks for the reading of my 52\250 flash, appreciate the insight.

Hi! Glad you're on Fictionaut.
