    I currently contribute nonfiction to Scientific American and Discover magazines, and I'm a broadcasting commentator for Vermont Public Radio. My short fiction, humor, and essays appear in various literary magazines.

    Why do you write?

    What fuels me -- Living in a small town, going to the post office.

    Rebecca thank you so much for your comment about "Elizabeths". I started that story (gulp) 15 years ago not long after discovering Amy Hempel. It was a beginning and kind of a mess. I left it alone (not intentionally) for 15 years and just found it a few weeks ago, it needed a lot of reworking and editing but it is a favorite for this reason. I suppose it was my first flash piece. You are so kind for saying what you did:) xo
