Why do you write?

Writing is taking life and distorting it, turning it sideways, tilting it on its axis just slightly, and capturing that. Sometimes, the ending in stories is better, however. And sometimes not.

Any favorite authors? Books?

My biggest influences are Kurt Vonnegut and Neil Gaiman.

Welcome to the Monkey House was the first book I read that stirred something in me that turned into a need to write. I will relentlessly try to capture even a fraction of the wit and charm of Vonnegut.

And Neil Gaiman is the truest, purest voice that has ever existed. His stories breathe air into my lungs.

Also, I dig your list of fave books! Breakfast of Champions was like my bible when I was growing up, and Murakami is one of my all-time favs. I think about his books all the time. :)
