Hi Kari: Thank you for seeking out "June, Texas, 1993." I'm happy it works for you on different levels. It was indeed about my father, whom I still miss as though I lost him yesterday, but I wanted it to be about all fathers as well, and perhaps I managed to pull it off. Thanks again.
Hi kari, thanks so much for your comment on my poem today! I like what you said about it feeling atmospheric. That is really wonderful and it helps to hear it. best, meg
Thanks for faving "Son of Goya," Kari. Yes, 26. Married. Grad student. Devastated at the impending loss of my dad from inoperable cancer. Poetry pouring out of me but nobody was interested at the time. Wish Fictionaut had existed back then!

Kari - thanks for reading Gowanus, and pointing out the pacing, I wanted the feel of relentlessness without frenzy, pleased that it works for you. - Walt
Congratulations on the child!I've told my friends this for years but there's nothing like that moment when your kid comes on the scene..it's the best feeling ever. And I can't think of a sweeter person for that wonderfulness to happen to than you. Very cool news!
Hi Kari. I'm so glad you liked "motorcycle for a dream." Thank you for your words. I look forward to reading your work. I've taken a glimpse and it looks inviting. -- Q
kari, thank you for your fine observations on "at the ministry". i was going for that cadence, it's great to see if something actually works...as for "odes and gospel": this works very well in german ("oden und heilige gesänge" really completes the sentence) but i wasn't so sure for the english until you said that. thanks!
Thanks for the comment on Time to Rest! I'm glad it worked for you. Someone commented to me elsewhere that the world would be better off without humans, and that is not what I intended with this piece. Which is why I ask... I think we belong here as much as any other creatures, we just need to make peace and quiet down a bit. You know? :)
Thanks for the goodness on "Gathering." I've written a few stories with some of these characters. But I might should think about putting them together as a collection or something larger, you're right.
Hi, Kari, thanks for reading Private Security. I appreciate your helpful and encouraging comments. I enjoyed reading your about-you and why-you-write statements above. And I very much enjoy reading your creative writing: Star Anise in particular is one of my favorites; Miss, too.
You made my morning Kari, with Star Anise. I am still lingering over the Pho and all the memories/ingredients packed into this piece. This is magnificent storytelling.
Thanks for reading my story Kari. It seems monolithic in length contrast to all the other Fictionautian stories you find out there, but oh well. I've come to hate that story of mine Song of the Needle. It's through the POV of the little kid and i'm afraid it ended up sounding a little too in Golden Books direction... I have other stuff (more recent) coming out in Narrative, Tampa Review and Shamballa Sun that i'll post when they're in print. Hopefully you and others can check them out. And, hopefully they won't embarrass me as much... . thanks again.
Kari, thanks so much for commenting on and faving "Processes." you're right, the laughter in the poem does have a sad edge to it. Thanks for pointing that out!
Hi, Kari- Glad you liked 'String Money'. It's one of a series, each to appear on a different zine. Another segment, 'Kilz', is up on amphibi.us: http://amphibi.us/all/kilz/
Should be fun and generate a few clickthroughs; please feel free to pass it on to anyone who might like :)
Been meaning to write about your pieces on Am as well. 'After Dinner' is clean and spare and high-impact and 'Ice Melts' is surprising and haunting. Great stuff, looking forward to reading more of your work. All best.

Kari, thanks for reading and commenting on "Chelsea 2", I appreciate it. I've just now finished writing another scene with Nanette, which I may be posting eventually. Glad you're enjoying it!
Sure, Kari. Not only is your writing good, you also have a knack for magical realism and surrealism. How many writers would do what you did with the ice-lady who shatters and melts? Keep it coming!
What a lovely thing to say (about crossing is knowing) thank you, Kari. I haven't been on fictionaut for awhile, been a bit busy, so it's nice to get unexpected feedback :-)
Hi Kari. Thanks for digging up "A New Tattoo" and for your kind words and the star! I've had a few rejections in my inbox today, so your message was cheering! Are you new to Fictionaut? I'll watch out for your stories. Best--Tina
Hmm...well, if you want to plunge into the "Hotel Chelsea" saga you could start with Scene 1. If you want something short that people seemed to like, there's "Minerva Gets Pierced by Love." But my personal favorite is "The Naked Mountain", which is all about the writing process, told as a parable (which didn't make anybody mad, either, I'm sad to say). I'll say this much about Fictionaut: it sure has increased my writing output!
Thank you, Kari, for your comments on X. I am very glad to meet you here; will look forward to taking in your writing very soon. No time just now, but I wanted to say hi and hello!
