  • About Me

I am an English-born film-maker. I recently moved to Berlin after living in Amsterdam for more than a decade.

My films, 'Julie & Herman' and 'Absolutely Positive' have been shown on television in Europe and screened at festivals in Europe and the USA. 'Absolutely Positive' won 2nd prize in the Short Film Category at Rhode Island International Film Festival 2008. Selected as one of nine for a 'Best of the Fest' screening.

My short story 'The Great Wall of China' was a runner up in Radio Netherlands' Radio Books competition in 2008. You can listen to it here: http://static.rnw.nl/migratie/www.radionetherlands.nl/radiobooks/080611rb-redirected

'Place de la Revolution' was published in the Spring 2009 edition of The Linnet's Wings and by Blue Print Review in Summer 2010. 'Swimming Pool' appeared recently in The Linnet's Wings Spring 2010. 'Candyfloss and Doughnuts' will be published by Cinnamon Press in August in their 2010 Anthology. 'Bottling Frank' is coming sometime in the autumn in Eclectic Flash. And news just in, 'Two Girls Under An Apple Tree' has been shortlisted for the Bristol Short Story Prize 2010, which means that even if this is as far as I get, it will be published next month in their new anthology.

    Why do you write?

    I'd be dead if I didn't.

Your note on my wall was quite funny! We spent most of the summer nights at the local pool. I should write a swimming-related story, now that I think about it. We owned a pool in Texas growing up and I was terrified I'd get my finger trapped in the drain and drown. At night, I was sure there was a shark in the pool with me but I'd force myself not to swim with the lights on so as to overcome my fears. Big mistake.
