    Why do you write?

    Flies buzzing about my head fuel my passion to write.

    The scent of garlic and olive medleys from the kitchen fuel my passion to edit.

    A couple of single-malt scotches, accompanied by a desire to engulf great literature, fuel my passion to publish.

    I'm easily distracted, can you tell?

    Any favorite authors? Books?

    To be completely self-serving, how about I list all of the published books by Atticus authors. No?

    OK, how about I mention a few greats, such as Don DeLillo, Tom Robbins, and Kurt Vonnegut? Hmm, that doesn't seem like a varied enough list.

    How about George Orwell, E.B. White, and Annie Dillard? Still doesn't cut it.

    I'm a great admirer of Anne Lamott, Charles Bukowski, David Sedaris, Raymond Carver, Dorothy Parker, and Flannery O'Connor. How's that for variety?

    Eh, forget it.
