About Me
My fiction has been published in Stickman Review, The Externalist, Generation X Journal, Sunday Salon, and in the anthology Philly Fiction 2. My short story “Big Secrets” was named Cynic Magazine’s “Best of 2008." Two of my stories have been performed in Philadelphia’s prestigious “Writing Aloud” series. In the next month my short stories will appear in both Wilderness House Literary Review and Intellectual Refuge. My play—Brie! The Musical Dissertation, co-written with Anneliese Euler—was produced in Philadelphia thanks to a development grant from the Pew Charitable Trusts. My screenplay, No Regrets, has been optioned by Amy Lo, producer of the award-winning film Planet B-Boy, and we are in negotiations with directors to bring it to the big screen. I also recently finished my first novel, X.
Why do you write?
All joking aside (a preparatory phrase I feel I have to put before everything I write), I once considered giving up writing, even though I had been writing comic books and horror stories since before I could even, well, write. I realized in those few months that I write because conceiving of the world and my and other's lives as a narrative injects meaning into things and moments that are perfectly happy to have no meaning, and it can also can take easy explanations away from those self-contented phenomena that really wish you wouldn't stare at them so long.

Mr. Matvey: I've posted a new story and would be honored if you had a look. Any/all comments welcome.
Also, I want to thank you for your kind comments on "Lola."
I think I was just sort of stumbling around the site when I found “InfiniDate” (no way I could pass up reading a story with a title like that). I’m new to Fictionaut and joined a few groups with interesting stories posted. I found your story in the Mad Hatters Review’s group.
