I am a writer living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I earned my MFA in Creative Writing from the University of San Francisco. I am currently working on my collection of short fiction. Some of my work appears in The Southeast Review, Lowenstoft Chronicle and in The Globetrotter's Companion, an anthology of creative travel writing.
My stories often explore the afterlife of change or trauma. My characters grapple with loss/grief, self-delusion, and issues with identity - of defining and redefining self – sometimes within the context of the immigrant or ethnic experience, where themes of acculturation, duality, discrimination, and alienation between parents and children arise.
Too many to list, but a few favorites are Alice Munro, Junot Diaz, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Maggie O'Farrell, Lorrie Moore, Michael Ondaatje, and Yiyun Li. Among my favorite books are Jennifer Egan's "A Visit from the Goon Squad," Adam Haslett's "You Are Not A Stranger Here," and James Galvin's "The Meadow."
