About Me

I work as a Copywriter/Editor for a medical association.

I am interested in culture, progressive change, human rights, travel, design, music and movies. I graduated from Colgate University in May 2009 with a concentration in Peace and Conflict Studies, and a minor in Creative Writing.

I have studied a wide range of topics: from literary journalism and the craft of fiction writing, to genocides in Rwanda and the Balkans, just war theory, and extralegal shadow networks in Colombia. This diverse list of interests has fueled my work in non-profit advocacy, public affairs, journalism and communications. Regardless, writing is the one thread that has always tied these experiences–and my life–together.

Why do you write?

My, so many reasons...

I write to find myself, to make sense of things. As an excuse to have adventures and because my life is unintentionally full of them.

Any favorite authors? Books?

David Foster Wallace

So nice to be in touch with a fellow DC-based writer, Alyssa. Thanks so much for checking out/commenting on my Presidents/Squeaky story. I welcome the challenge of incorporating these folks into later flashes! I'm reading D Johnson's Tree of Smoke and definitely can see writing some more political type stuff.

Your background sounds FASCINATING. I've written a few stories about My Lai, the Holocaust, obedience to authority, etc. I really do need to learn/read up a lot more on the Balkans, Rwanda, etc.

In any event, thanks again. D
