Gay, thanks for the insightful notes about "Ethical Seduction." Interestingly, or oddly, I got a couple of private comments from women readers who said, Oh, I would have gone to bed with him. Ha. But I wanted to be careful with the issue, because the main character IS a bit slippery anyway, so I thought it was important that he find a little place of moral ground to stand on amid the chaos, and do the right thing. Unusual piece for me; thanks for looking at it! Bear
Thanks for your kind words about "Real Estate," Gay! You're very kind. Hey, now that I see your lovely picture here, we won't have to wear pink carnations to find each other at TH!
Thanks Susan. What I need is editorial insight so I'm thrilled you are reading some of my work.
There are things I still get confused about in terms of what editors are looking for. I do read magazines before I submit and I go through my stuff looking for similar stories, but usually whatever I send is still not quite the right fit.
And I certainly understand that reactions are subjective, that each reader brings his or her own baggage along, but feedback is the best learning tool. So thank you. Please never hold back for me, especially if I haven't published the piece. I NEED to know what works and what doesn't.
I know as I continue to submit I will get better at matching story to mag, but it's also terrific to have commentary from someone who has been there and understands the "magic" something that can compel an editor to choose one story over another.
Thanks for your comment on "New Song of Innocence and Experience." Ah, you DO understand!

I like your work, Gay, and I think that as a former editor I tend to encourage other writers. Glad you're here!
Yeah, well, sometimes I do find it necessary to cower under my bed.
No blinders. Man, that is funny! I'm still smiling.
Welcome!
