People and blank pages, of which there seems to be an endless supply of both.
Forever favorite: Truman Capote's In Cold Blood. I own (and cherish) a first printing.
New favorite: Patti Smith's Just Kids. I devoured it.

Enjoyed the piece at Pure Slush - "We sat in silence, the entire train, the few other passengers in anxious wait to see if I would change my mind. We all flipped pages, glanced up at each other, looked away when noticed."
People and blank pages! Oh yeah. Welcome aboard.
New essay up at Pure Slush! Read it, say a prayer, light a candle. http://bit.ly/eUQZvC
