  • About Me

Ex-Playwright, switched to novels when our twin boys arrived in the world.

Worked for 20 years in the independent music scene, now in the NGO world of freedom of expression and anti-censorship.

My debut novel was independently published last winter. 3 more on the racks waiting to go, along with myriad shorts, two screenplays and two graphic novels story-boarded.

    Why do you write?

Because words march round my head seven times nightly and blow their horns and trumpets that collapse my feeble walls of resistance.

Because the novel has got stuck in a twentieth century form and needs bringing up to new audiences in a language that speaks to them.

Because artists need to interrogate the world, ways of seeing and what reality consists of.

Because language is slippery and elusive and more often than not masks meaning rather than reveal it.

    Any favorite authors? Books?

Kafka, Delillo, Winterson, Selby Jnr, Burroughs, Camus, Lethem, Faber, Houellebeq, Pelevin

American Pastoral, Karoo, A Fraction Of The Whole,
