The countdown is on and daily the propaganda
gets more and more aggravating
It appears at times that the news media dictate
and orchestrate more that just report on events of diplomatic shock. A huge effort has gone in to covering this coming war and it overshadows all other items
People are in place at great expense in faraway locations
And the story has to be kept moving forward
“the next key event” “our on the spot reporter”
“flashing breaking news” keep us glued
Each new declaration has to outdo the last episode
Talks of peace are dismissed in mock diplomatic logic
All the reporters want war and would have us believe
the majority of us really do too
How complicated it all becomes
How utterly futile reason seems
How we become de-sensitized to real wounds
How statistics are used to covey lies as truth

One perception on the first Gulf War

Great line: "the reporters want war..."
Powerful poem in both subject matter and presentation. The last stanza (How)is particularly disturbing and ends the poem really well
well said, donal
thank you
Yes, they keep at it until some big hollywood star does something outrageous.
Then it's back seat till tomorrow. You said it all well.
That's about how it went. Well done, Donal!
