SEA BIRDS
by Estelle Bruno
They frequent the open ocean
but not on this day
this day is dark and dank after a
heavy rainstorm
I wait for them to come back to
the water
they don't come
I wonder where they hide during
the storm
the gulls don't fit in tree holes
so where, where are they?
When it "is dark and dank after a / heavy rainstorm," I believe the birds gather in their coastal colonies to socialize. They can find food almost anywhere, depending on circumstances, but marine prey is most preferred, so keep looking and you will soon see sea birds again. *
thanks so much Mykell. I will keep looking, I promise.
I like the way this opens up. "I wonder where they hide during the storm the gulls don't fit in tree holes."
Very nice, Estelle. Love the tone and mood of this, and the economy of words.
Enjoyed reading your poem, Estelle.
nice stuff. "the gulls don't fit in tree holes..."
I thank you all for reading my tale of woe.
p.s. someday, someone will know the answer to that. Maybe I should ask those gulls????
Very nice. I have wondered too. Maybe they check in en masse at one of those budget beach side motels, and get the group discount!
beautiful and highly spiritual poem.
