Gosh, thanks so much, Sara! It is actually part of a story. There are a couple other stories, too, with this narrator. I'm new to fictionaut, and it seems to me that it's best to post short pieces. I could be wrong. I'd like to post longer stories, haven't tried it yet, though. But I do appreciate your comment!
Thank you for the comment on The Weight of Jade! I see you are from Brooklyn, I'm going to NYC for the first time this weekend! :) Any recommendations for things I need to see?
Sara, thanks so much for reading and commenting on Peach. I have two daughters. This stuff haunts me. But at least I know it's out there for mitigation. I'm new and still looking around, look forward to reading all your stories!
Sara, thanks for the lovely comments on Things I Should Have Done - #3, so glad you enjoyed it. That's the third, so far, in the series, #1 and #2 are up here too. Thanks for reading!
Thank you Sara for reading "Classmates" and your kind words. I have been thinking about that a lot lately--how things people do that seem small or foolish can be a kind of bravery.
Sara, thanks so much for reading my story. I appreciate your thoughts. You raised a great question, which I tried to answer over on the page. Hope that helps, some.
Thanks,Sara. Yes, you may be right about my story, Without Consent. Does a guy exist who could be this remorseful? Would a teenager like Danny feel so bad so soon, after the event and then to carry that guilt for so long? Does his youth stand in his favour - seeing that the part of the brain, which controls impulse behaviour does not mature until 25? I don't know, I only know that I would forgive him.
Hi,Sara, I'm really glad you enjoyed my story. Rather cathartic to write but it took me along time to get it out there. I was lucky enough to win an open mic night with this piece and I was shaking the whole time I was reading it.
I just wanted to say hi and thank you for your comment on Accidental Faith. Sorry for the late reply, but I seem to be slowly weening myself into this whole social networking thing. Not staying on top of it like I should. I'll make sure to check out your own work!
Sara - thanks for reading & commenting on "My Beloved Favilla", and no, it was just the guitar, though I wanted the mis-conception. If I treated anyone like that, I wouldn't have been with them in the first place!
Walter
Sara: Thanks for your comment about my cats stories. I thought about changing the viewpoint of one when I paired them, then said to heck with it. I agree that the second one is a better story. True, too!
Hi Sara - I haven't logged into Fictionaut too often lately so I have yet to catch up on your new posts, but Marcelle Heath dropped me a note to say that you had selected my piece as a Fictionaut Fave. Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Hello hello hello Sara! Thanks so much for the lovely comment you left on 634. It was very sweet of you & made me smile like a total idiot. I hope today is working out alright for you, where ever you may be!
Good points, Sara. I'm at the grandkids stage myself, and one of the joys of that is that you get to at least control the dosage! Ha! Not so easy during parenting time.
Sara, so nice to hear you also liked Walk on Water. I loved loved the scene where they were driving back from the beach and the brother was translating that song for his guest. Such a great, brutal movie.
Sara, thanks for your message! I continue to be amazed that those lines should be controversial, but I've been around long enough to know how that would be so, of course. I come from a time when families were still announcing the death of their sons, brothers, husbands, fathers with "proud sorrow."
Yes re Facebook. But you'll have to contact me, as I don't think I'll have the patience to discover the right Sara T. And I have to admit that I'm not terribly active on Facebook.
Sara, thanks for your comment on Mary Magdalen. I love your Annie stories. Some of that achy indifference strikes home. I also love this from "I, Too, Dream:"
I dream that no mother
Will exhalt her sons death
To cope
With her pain
Thank you, Sara! I really appreciate your kind words about my writing. I've started following you here on Fictionaut and will check out your pieces as well. All the best!
Thanks for your kind and prompt comment! It's only been up about 3 minutes. You must have seen it quickly because we're both in Brooklyn. Wait... does the internet work like that?
Oooh! That's so weird! I did just read 'Breathing.' Check out my comment. (That's the second time today Fictionaut seems to be working as a kind of Greater Consciousness.) Gulp!
hey, i hear you and i understand you. personally, i find it difficult to mix critique and encouragement on the "public wall". that's what the workshoppy groups are for ... i use the "hidden workshop" - you get to it via the doormat thread in the "workshop group"...or by messaging (and massaging if you want) susan gibb or dorothee lang...once the critiqueing starts it won't stop believe me...
Sara - love love love your work! Especially curious to know if Annie might become part of a longer story? Not that she needs to - Annie's Chase works exceptionally well at its present length. Looking forward to reading mroe of your work.
oh, you will get feedback here, especially (big secret) if you give feedback to others. the secret of any community existence: give more than/as you get. cheers! (will check it out...next few days...tired now, late in europe!)
