About Me

I'm a gentle Marylander living in Memphis, the third most miserable city in the country. I write, I edit, I make sure my daughters don't get kidnapped, I drink a lot of coffee, and I occasionally plan an orgy. I keep a shameless and frivolous website, The Girl Circus http://www.thegirlcircus.com. No, the half naked girls are not me. I edit for The Legendary, http://www.downdirtyword.com. I love doing it. I love it more than marijuana and masturbation. I am in the process of starting a small press for print adventures. I, I, I...too many I's. Oh well. I love you, and your words.

Why do you write?

I'm crazy, doesn't that mean I'm supposed to be creative? I can't help myself.

It's really very compulsive. I have to write or I turn into a Twilight vampire. I know, it's terrible!

I write because having an orgasm in public is frowned upon, but writing a poem is OK.

Any favorite authors? Books?

My favorite authors change every day. When I dip into The Legendary submissions box I add a few more to my list. My very favorite books are the ones that haven't been written yet by the amazing voices I read while just doing what I do.

Hi Katie! Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment on "This Is How It Is" I value it and appreciate it very, much. I am really looking forward to reading your work and visiting your "shameless and frivolous" website! I'll be in touch. By the way, since you live in Memphis, if you have the time - check out the work of Sonja Livingston - recently moved there from my neck of the woods and is a professor at the University - her recent book -Ghostbread - is fantastic! mgm

I loved living in Memphis, but that was seven years back. I guess it's deteriorated a bit since then, but the delta, its ghosts, and the river are fine fodder for stories and poems. Nice to have you here, Katie.

I have a working profile up. Now to figure out how this thing works...
