It is with great sadness I announce the passing of Ann Bogle on February 28, 2023 after a brief illness. Ann was longtime contributor and editor of these pages and a champion of small press and emerging writers.
I knew Ann since the late 1970's when she was an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was the close friend of one of my graduate students, Bruce Johnson, who remained a valued friend and confidant until her death.
Ann was frequently a visitor to our home in Brooklyn, NY where she and my wife, Maureen E. Mulvihill, would compare notes on the travails of being a professional writer. Ann championed my music as well as my writing and art. She commissioned me to illustrate "Country Without A Name" and several of her stories and poems.
She is survived by a sister and a brother. At this time there is no information about funeral or memorial services.
This makes me sad. She was a nice woman and a good writer.
Sad news. I never met her but I know I'd have liked her if I had. I admire her work.
Very sad news. Condolences to her family and friends.
I feel very sad on hearing this news. Ann was one of the writers I used to read before joining fictionaut. Her work, like that of many others on the 'naut in those days, made me want to join up. I was always taken by her honest, autobiographical texts (she was notable in rarely hiding behind a fictional persona). She deserved good reviews, and was generous in giving likewise to others. I will miss her.
Always so sad to learn of a passing. I did not know her personally but certainly as a "sister" in our Fictionaut family.
She was really nice. Thanks for posting this.
I'm sorry to hear this.
Really, genuinely.
It's true.
She will be missed, here.
R.I.P.
Very sad news.
Praise from Ann, a writer to her very bones, was high praise always. Her writing at its best was exceptional in its command, clarity, purpose and style. She was enormously generous to us, here, in sharing her insights. I knew her only through Fictionaut, but I will miss her as an old and valued friend and exemplar.
So sad.I admired her talent.
Ann was a special lady, intelligent, determined, creative, strong, and with an aura of grace and beauty. Her kind presence will be missed so very much.
So saddened to hear this news. I really liked her voice a lot. She always offered great advice and solid friendship. She will be missed and remembered for a very long time..she was a beautiful presence on this earth and especially here at Fictionaut..
Very sad to hear this.
I'm very sorry to read of this. My condolences to her family, friends and comrades.
Oh God. I didn't know. Sad. This is a terrible loss.
Rest in peace Ann!
A felt loss whenever any writer passes on, a loss more acutely felt here when the writer was a long-time member of the Fictionaut community.
Requiescat in pace, Ann Bogle. (Thank you, Daniel, for the notification.)
I am just finding the sad news out. Ann was such a talent, and brilliant too. We read together on several occasions back in our earlier careers. I'll miss her wit, her work and her support, too. R.I.P. Ann.
