Why do you write?

I look around at the world, all of its people, all of its insects and animals, all of the trees and noises and colors,and I want to write about all of it. I want to write it better than an artist can paint it, or a photographer can photograph it. I want to write it more real than it is, so that you can see every layer of it, and look further than the initial glance.

Any favorite authors? Books?

Ernest Hemingway, Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Michael Chabon are in my top ten. 'A Moveable Feast', 'Less Than Zero', 'Fight Club', and 'Wonder Boys'. I have a growing list of every book I ever read somewhere on the internet.
