About Me

I'm a Cleveland based author who has sponsored and/or participated in readings throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Quebec and California. I consider the focus of my work to be short stories and flash fiction, having appeared in multiple journals online and in print. I run a blog and small chapook press (Burning River) and recently completed a writing residency in Val-David, Quebec.

Why do you write?

People. People fuel it. I've no greater faith aside from my own writing as a way to describe the world than human beings: the good, the bad, the ugly. The capacities, capabilities to change our lives and become truly happy, satisfied or altogether, a completely different person is the most powerful thing I've found in my lifetime. The chances are infinite. I suppose you could call me a humanist by these regards.

Any favorite authors? Books?

Hempel, Eggers, Kerouac, Whitman. Have started reading a lot of philosophy texts lately, also.
