Is every librarian a poet at heart? I don't know, but a group of librarians recently put their heads together and came up with these library-themed Valentine's Day poems:
Roses are red
Your book's overdue
You've had it for months
Which is making us blue.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Sanitize your desk
Everyone here has the flu.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
I.S.B.N. thinking of you.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
The copier is jammed
And the internet's down too.
Roses are red
I can find that book for you
But I 'll need more to go on than
"The cover is blue."
The roses are dead
The violets are too.
They've just slashed our budget
So we have to make do.
Roses are red
The book drop's for books
Not for balloons or kittens
Or whatever else you're thinking
Seriously, I've found sandwiches in there.
Roses are red.
No, the tax forms aren't here.
I need a drink.
Either wine or a beer.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Stop screaming and just download the dang forms from IRS.gov.
WTF is wrong with you?
Roses are red
Library cats are fluffy.
But because I'm allergic
They make my nose stuffy.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
If you love your library
We're grateful for you.
Is there a library-related poem in your heart? If so, please post it in the Comments section. And Happy Valentine's Day!

Roses aren't read
While books we oft dread
And for fuck's sake do not read in bed
If you wish to stay wed.
Roses are read
Violets are blue
Books make me sneeze
How about you?
Fun. Unfortunately my brain isn't able to come up with rhyme or reason right now. *
Great fun.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Everytime I come here
You're in such a stew.
*
Roses are red
Violets are blue
You can't set your empty beer can by the computer
To spit out your chew
(really did happen in my library experience!)
