and exhilarated and terrified all at once.
I JUST sent off my novel to an agent who requested the full after seeing an excerpt at a writing conference last May. I spent the summer going over with a scalpel (and a hacksaw a few times, too). Lou Freshwater assisted as well (she does good edits, folk).
I understand the odds, but this is the first full request I've ever received. Happy to no longer be a virgin in that department.
Anyways, thanks for listening. A special thanks to Myra King and Beate Siggriddaughter who read an earlier version and pointed out great stuff. A special special thanks to Lou Freshwater, cracker-jack editor, did a fine-tooth of the latest version.
Going into extreme lotus position now. Peace...
extreme lotus should do it, linda, in addition to all the other things you and your writing have going for you! congrats!

How wonderful! Crossing everything for you, Linda and congratulations for getting the request for a full manuscript. I bet it's great!
Congratulations, Linda! This is excellent news!

Happy for you, Linda. Great news.

Ah, you are all too kind - thank you all for your support. I'm exhausted now, wondering what to do with my time. I'll keep you posted and gladly share my first full m/s rejection letter ;^) Peace...
Linda don't say that!!! You have to believe in your work and yourself, ALWAYS...
Linda, wondering what to do while you wait? Write another one.
Best of luck.
Ha Susan! I do have faith (most of the time) in my work, but I also understand the market. This agent's response to both my pitch and excerpt has given me the confidence to at least reapproach the market, agent and small pubber alike.
James, I've been nibbling at another novel (the minister's wife), still playing with it. I have a first draft of #2 (pure) marinating and I simply cannot bring myself to read it and start the revisions. Yet. But I think I will just read for awhile, do some marketing, tinker with my first story > 1000 words and < 100,000. Thanks for your support! Peace...
This is great! I hope it works out for you!
I believe in you and your work, and can't wait to hold your novel in my hands.
Thanks Gloria and Robert! I hope it works out, too! Peace...
Thrilling news, Linda. Congratulations! So I guess you don't need that MFA after all? LOL
Thanks Andrew! Oh, I WANT the MA, I want to read and write with a teacher because I never have. I wish sending a full manuscript to an agent secured publishing success, but it sure as heck doesn't. It's just one step, perhaps a futile step, towards the brass ring. Like Bill Yarrow says in his thread -- keep sending your stuff in.
I have about 200 agents and countless editors to go yet ;^)
Peace...
Wishing you all the best with this Linda!
Fingers crossed for you, Linda!
Linda, this is great!
