afternoons
by Ajay Nair
afternoons are under-rated. i like the emptiness of afternoons, their drowse-inducing stillness. sounds are muffled and the sun is toobrighttoohot. they should ban rains during afternoons; raining is for morningseveningsnights. afternoons are sun-time.
i think god composed afternoons with crayons - drew them out thick and orange and smudgy and powdery.
Yum! That's a little droplet of gorgeousness. Going to read it again now.
Thanks Martha! I wondered if this works at all but am glad to read your comment.
Ajay, I see a series coming. Hope I'm right.
I hope so. This was quite instinctive. Thanks for the read, Jack.
Back in Delhi 45 years ago. Such imagery. toobrighttoohot indeed.
Thanks Juhi. And this is all Bombay!
Nice. I like the crayon bits - colors, shading and texture especially.
Cheers.
It's lovely Ajay, but I think you're missing something here - there is nothing so fine, at least for me, here in NY, to be on my bed on an afternoon, listening to the rain outside. For me, it's the reverse- I want sun in the morning to propel me forward, I want sun in the evening to make me feel good about the day to come.
But in the afternoon -- I love hearing raindrops. Happy in my NY cocoon!
Thanks, Larry.
And Cherise, let's trade. A rainy morning any day.
