I was at the doctor's office
They had a poster of the Mona Lisa
and the caption underneath it read:
“Why is this woman smiling?”
Well, it wasn't because she was over 50
and had yearly mammograms
It was because she was 20 something
and had nightly mammograms
from her boyfriend's hands
It's because she can still eat
chocolate and have multiple orgasms
She is smiling because
she has no paranoia
or worries and has never
heard a politician speak
ever in her life
and that is what we call good karma
and sweet good luck
She is smiling because
she knows something we
have forgotten in our rush
to get to the adult world
And she is smiling because
she still has a life among toys

poster at my doctor's office
But what's her co-pay?
"nightly mammograms"!
Enjoyed this. Great idea for a poem.
The ending reads little preachy to me though.
