I am not
a Road Scholar,
ladies & gentlemen,
though I've been
On the Road
more than once.
Do not mistake me
for a bum.
I am not a hobo,
homeless or otherwise,
in this life
or any other,
I am not a bum,
I insist.
But I do know why the world's fireflies
are being counted.
Because it is so difficult to believe
that no one would have them,
and that the light from them
has been diminished.
At some point
you have to stop nibbling
from the moldy cake,
ladies & gentlemen,
to discover the truth about this.
Believe me.

"If there is a God up there, he would have turned his back on us by now." - Old Man *
I feel like this could be much, much longer.
Inscrutable but not entirely oriental.
