Poet, essayist nd fiction writer based in SF these days. Former stints in academia, indie film and market research.
The Looking Glass, a novella, appear in October 2021 (Propertius Press.) Debut novel, A Closet Feminist, will be published in 2022 (Unsolicited Press). Poems have appeared in Hamilton Stone Review, Third Wednesday, Prole, Misfit Magazine, Defenestration, Antiheroin Chic, Halfway Down the Stairs and elsewhere. Short fiction appears most recently in Hobart and Across the Margins, as well as my story collection, Strange Courtships.
Why do you write?
Memories and meditation are the major fuel of my writing-- but movies, too, play a role. I am still wondering why I started to write fiction-- but it had something to do with the death of my mother.
Any favorite authors? Books?
Authors: Muriel Spark, Willa Cather, Rudyard Kipling, Deborah Eisenberg, Evelyn Waugh, Nancy Lemann, Dawn Powell, PG Wodehouse, Allegra Goodman, and Dickens. Also heavily influenced by the Yiddish tradition of Singer and Peretz.
Favorite Books: Bleak House, Scoop, Kim, The Professor's House, Lucy Gayheart, Plain Tales from the Hills, What Ho Jeeves!, The Ballad of Peckham Rye
