words…
sounds…
bits and chops…
swirling ‘round my brain…
just tryin' to make some sense…
sleep eludes…
dawn intrudes…
i can't love you any more…
don't wanna love you any less…
you're in my heart…
you're in my head…
your scent and sight color my world…
i'm drowning in your love…
don't throw me out a line…
floating…
drifting…
colors shifting…
clock ticks out a rhyme…
my heart is keeping time…
i can't love you any more…
don't wanna love you any less…
i'll kiss away your fears…
and drink up all your pain…
don't give up…
we're almost there…
no white flags…
no surrender…
gonna make this work…
i can't live without you…
don't make me learn that game…
here's the deal…
sorrow follows tears…
pain later for the happiness now…
is the joy something we only borrow…?
no more doubts…
no more fears…
can't think about that now…
just gotta do it…
take my hand…
you have my heart…
sunlight fades…
evening shades…
if i close my eyes…
will it all end tomorrow?
clock stops… times up… pencils down.
rewind?

I've been participating in Vicki Ableson's 5 Minute 30 Day Writing Challenge, where I was introduced to Morning Pages... a daily writing exercise where one sits down and writes at least three pages in a journal... more if they like... about anything and everything. 'rewind' was written about 3.30 in the morning. I'd had no intent of sharing this journal entry. Tina, my spouse, had other ideas.
This is the first and only draft... I transcribed it from my journal pages exactly as it was written; nothing has been changed. I probably should title the piece 'un-edited'.
I liked the exercise. Nice ending.
Thank you.
Out of the 'clutter' of a writer's mind, eh?
