although tastes may change amidst food chain collapse,
hunger won't do much for nutritional gaps.
why limit the number of kids that we have?
who'd want to risk having our human herds halved?
we've evolved for ourselves such versatile fare
that diet restrictions just wouldn't be fair:
to keep menu options robust and alive,
let's observe dietary options that thrive
among species sharing this same planet home:
legalize cannibalism―blood, flesh, and bone.
(no one need fear timidity in our tastes―
we like trying new things, no matter our hastes!)
let necessity guide gastronomic zeal:
that will insure cannibalism's appeal.

A ditty on dietary change (or: an acknowledgment of dietary reality).
This story has no tags.
So long as it tastes like chicken.
There are those that would and those
who wouldn't
I'm in the boat with the ones who couldn't.*
The future will be horrific.
"among species sharing this same planet home:

This could have been the poem all by itself.
Reminds me, of course, of A Modest Proposal. Also works to the tune of "Monster Mash."
What Darryl said. BTW, this is horrifically cool.
