Mornin', Bub,
were, you recall, the first words;
they seemed to startle him,
the neglected, conquered head creaking up
from its fixation with the sidewalk.
Rheumy eyes sizing you up,
something mumbled,
an exchange that became routine
when you met on Main Street mornings;
geniality attends these constitutional walks.
Hit you up in time, disappointing,
claimed homelessness, you called the lie,
assuming correctly he lived at Cary House,
argument--denying, whining;
disgusted, embarrassed, you gave him the inaugural dollar.
What is Cary House?
Enjoying the series.
Assisted living, Gary.
Thanks. I think I've exhausted the material now--at least for a while.
There are 3 Cary Houses in the road I live in which is (partly) why I call this town Necropolis. Komrade Matt - as I said on Facebook. Won't reiterate but favourite images:
the neglected, conquered head creaking up
from its fixation with the sidewalk.
Reminds me a bit of my 'Diamonds in the Fog'
Позравляю!
Why 2 of my comments? MPD??!:)
You must have really like it to double your comment, Reva. Thanks!
There's a guy in the neighborhood of my office building whose tack is to compliment you on what you're wearing. I am, to my chagrin, a sucker for that.
"the inaugural dollar"!

Thanks, Bill.
Con, a woman my age (who looked older) complimented my old shoes in the doctor's waiting room recently. Made my day. I actually took one shoe off to try to find the make. Moments after she left I saw something in the AARP magazine about shoes being fashionable conversation starters. She's probly still laffing at me.
So clear, sad, human. xxoononnie
Thanks, Nonnie. Glad to see you back on the dance floor.
disgusted, embarrassed, you gave him the inaugural dollar.
the way of the "world."*
Seems that way, Tim. Either that, I suppose, or soylent denial.

It sure as hell did, David.
