The Cosmos as Gerunds
by Gary Hardaway
Nothing becomes. All is always becoming-
heating, cooling, accelerating,
slowing, fusing and fracturing.
There is no there or where but rather
trajectories of probability
reigned in by properties and possibilities.
The snapshot in the locket is a lie,
the stately edifice an illusion
of firmness, commodity, and delight.
Love the first stanza.
"The snapshot in the locket is a lie," such a great line as I think of locket pictures I've seen from long gone relatives most of whom I've only heard stories about.
Especially like the closing. Good poem, Gary.
Got a crick in my neck from nodding, the more vigorously with each stanza. Good thing there are only three, as I was on the verge of shouting YES!!! and being consigned to the "quiet room" here in the public library. *
Good stuff, Gary. *

This is superb.

Love that last stanza. "*"
Thank you, Rachna, Paul, Sam,
Matt, Charlotte, Chris, James, Amanda, and Kyle.
Begins with "Nothing." Ends with "delight." As all good poems should.
*
Thank you, Bill.
The relating of cosmos to grammar is genius.*
Thank you, Gary.
It all goes on. Great metaphor. *
Thanks, John.
*, Gary. The 2nd stanza does it for me.
Strong. What's a gerund? *
Thanks, David and Larry.
