Sunday Morning Series- 3: Theo Logic
by Gary Hardaway
We can't just win.
We must defeat.
We can't just correct.
We have to punish.
Observe the withered
head atop the pole.
Smell the rebels
crucified along the Way.
In this room are shoes,
in this, the golden fillings.
And here, the Pol Pot
skull collection.
What mercy would you,
as maker of the universe,
grant to us? A just God
would have ended us
before we first stacked
stone on top of stone.
There is no God.
Or if there is,
he is unjust
or just indifferent.
Love this, Gary. Love.
Yes, sadly, the magical thinking is simply that.*
The plea grabs and resonates. Godforsaken our conceit. *
I believe there is no God yet I have conversed with him about these things all my life: sunsets and Holocausts, the destitute and the overflowing with riches. The whole idea of God is a conundrum, but an idea is all it is.
Thank you all very much- Frankie, Joani, Matthew and Gloria.
Great close. The stacked stones are just right.*
Another good one.
(Go ahead. Keep it up, Gary. You're makin' a non-believer outta me!)
"In this room are shoes,
in this, the golden fillings.
And here, the Pol Pot
skull collection."
Strong work, Gary. Good piece. *
Thank you, John, Sally, and Sam. I'm very grateful for the attention and commentary.
Never was a believer...this series helps me understand why.*
Thank you, Gary.
