  • About Me

I'm a poet, journalist, and translator in Yiddish and English - but probably best known, in the small world of modern-minded Yiddish speakers, as the translator of Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat into Yiddish. This colossal best seller was published by Yiddish House LLC, a company founded by my wife, Celeste Sollod, and me. In addition to the Cat, we have also published translations of One Fish Two Fish and Curious George.

My first book of poetry, a chapbook in Yiddish and English entitled Not in the Same Breath, was published by Yiddish House in 2011. I'm at work on a new manuscript.

I have published widely in both Yiddish and English, in journals such as Gilgulim, the Forward, Tablet, and Words Without Borders.

I live in Baltimore with my wife and children – we speak Yiddish to each other and our friends. In my other life, I'm a primary care doctor and researcher of doctor-patient communication.
