My work has appeared in Passages North, Karamu, RE:AL, Poet Lore, The Good Foot, The Amherst Review, Long Shot, and other journals. I live in New York City and I'm working on a novel, so, it follows naturally that I have a boring day job.
My goodness, I'm not the first person to say this -- I write because I can't stop!
Other more respectable reasons: to give a voice to the oppressed, to catalogue the world's weirdness, to be caught in the dizzying thrall of form, and last but not least, to show my former high school classmates that I'm not a nerd (kidding -- I was cool).
I love Murakami. Other authors are Mary Gaitskill, Elizabeth Bishop, Jane Austen, Joyce Carol Oates, Flannery O'Connor, Charlotte Bronte, Toni Morrison, Denise Duhamel, Virgil Suarez, Kim Addonizzio. My list goes on.
