I am a Chicago-land violinist reconnecting with my writing. I'm in the dissertation stages of my doctorate in music and, having my coursework behind me, now have a little more time to focus on my poems and short stories. Over the years, I've kept a very active journal and am hoping to piece some of it together into a memoir.
I am so inspired by the tiny details of people and their stories. I am admittedly addicted to memory and love the sensation of a good nostalgic trip-- I'm always on some odd mission to figure out why our paths cross with others: what we learn from the experience, what changes in us because of them.
My favorite poets (currently) are Billy Collins, Mary Oliver, Robert Bly, and Conor O'Callaghan. My favorite author is David Sedaris and my favorite memoirs are Julia Scheeres's "Jesus Land", Augustin Burroughs's "Running with Scissors" and "Dry", and Jeannette Walls's "The Glass Castle".
