this poem is based on a couple of Vogue headlines and ad-lines; a first version of it was once up in 'Zygote in My Coffee'.
(i found the link --
the original poem is still up here: http://www.zygoteinmycoffee.com/issue18elcolordelamirada.html)
I like this piece, Dorothee. An interesting form.
Thanks Sam! the original poem was without formatting, by the way. i will look for a link.
I was raised on Vogue magazine and Harper's Bazaar. They came to mind before I read your note on it. tres cool.
The formatting of this is almost a new media graphical enhancement that emphasizes the typography of magazine tearsheets, no?
Susan - thanks for the feedback. and interesting reflection on the typography. i thought about that, too, while placing the words in this new way:
the Vogue words, and the formatting - working with it, i felt, this is almost like an own hyper-dramatic dialect of language.
i love this. it has a texture that you rarely see and never expect from 2d. the title is brilliant, too. "tres cool" it is, as susan said. much more so than vo/gue.
This is very unique. It's like some kind of Font Art, with strong prose carefully intertwined with the Font Size. Very clever writing.
I like how this reads on the page and the style of the whole thing.
