A PERSON THAT IS MEAN
TO THE WAITER
IS A MEAN PERSON
i thought of you with your high cheekbones,
the sense of entitlement unparalleled,
the superiority complex that hid much
you had a gig and
it had probably worked on someone
but your gig was and is
a trick
faced w/ something that mattered
or a mark,
there is the perfect smile
otherwise, watch the spirit shift
quick
click
slick
flick
and
trick
there goes
see it?
it is said that Gurdjieff was known
to approach famous, well polished people
he would whisper something like
YOU HAVE A GOOD PERSONALITY,
A GOOD PERSONA,
A GOOD MASK
but I am not Gurdjieff
i just waited it all out and you came to pass in time
i admit there are no cheekbones like that anywhere
but i 'tell you true,'
you are still mean,
like the sign says
the waiter knows it
i know it
i think Gurdjieff even knows it
maybe in some place
you might know it too

Not my kind of poetry but it worked for me.
Coincidentally, there's a French restaurant named Zygomates in Boston.
Borderline personality disorder. I married one. *
Nice conveying of character though visuals and poetry.
thanks Con, Mathew, and Gloria for reading and commenting.
