This poem was published in issue 3 of Angelic Dynamo in 2008.
It appears in THE LICE OF CHRIST (MadHat press 2014).
"Something, He Wrote" appears in THE VIG OF LOVE (Glass Lyre Press, 2016).
Ending is great. Is it wrong I laughed a bit? Beautiful poem with a sneaky ending.
Yeah, this works perfectly for me, and the ending sneaking up on you like that gives it that extra bang for the buck.
Gives me a chance to rec my friend's book: Night Wraps the Sky, Writings by and about Mayakovsky, edited by Michael Almereyda, [who gives me a shout out at the end] Farrar Strauss 2007 or 6 or 8 I can't remember. Also I like the poem a lot.
yes
"So, I lit a fire, isn't it good Norwegian wood."
I love arson in a work of art.
I really liked this and the ending was perfectly, strategically arrayed.
This is very deft, Bill and that last word, set off on its own is perfection.
Beautifully performed, Bill.
Masterful.
Enjoyed.
