Back then, when
we counted faces
for fun and bent a
leg against the all-
night ice cream truck,
where kids got
bullied for the
chance at a
hero, I saw you
hold her as if you
were copy writing a
ball of yarn, a
hydrant cried
for a heat wave.

It's the hottest day of the year today. I've been thinking a lot about summer. I've been thinking a lot about love in summer. I've been thinking a lot about how we inflict pain on one another during the course of love in the summer time.
This is fantastic. Counting faces for fun indeed.
Can feel the heat.
Thanks guys! It's been so hot here lately. A summer poem felt like it was in order!
Marvelous lines:
"I saw you
hold her as if you
were copy writing a
ball of yarn, a
hydrant cried
for a heat wave."
Good poem. *
