Atticus Books is a small literary press based in Kensington, Md., a close-in Washington, D.C., suburb. We specialize in genre-busting literary fiction—i.e., titles that fall between the cracks of genre fiction and compelling narratives that feature memorable main characters. We publish books and regularly post original short stories, poems, literary essays and creative non-fiction on our website.

We have a healthy appetite for satire, but consistently hanker for dialogue attuned to realism. We are partial to stories that resonate sweetly, bittersweetly, bitterly, tastefully, even tastelessly – as long as they provoke thought and awaken the ethereal senses. Our mission at Atticus Books is to deliver a first-class experience to the reader. Period.
