About Me

I'm the editor-in-chief of The Emerson Review.

I write poems. Then, I write stories. Sometimes they get published.

Yes, I'm new at this.

Why do you write?

I write for perfect line breaks.

Any favorite authors? Books?

1984, All the Living, Anthem, The Awakening, Bucolics, A Farewell to Arms, The Good Earth, Maurice, Middlesex, Native Son, The Old Man and the Sea, The Secret Agent, Slapstick, Tunneling to the Center of the Earth

...the content on the site is not password-protected, so some folks may consider it already published. At the same time, some editors have picked stuff up they've seen here, so that is not set in stone. I've just been uncomfortable posting publicly anything that hasn't yet been vetted by editors. There are also some private groups here I think now that people are using more like workshops, where only group members can see the content. Some folks treat this like a place to get feedback and other primarily as a networking tool... I think the founder Jurgen would like it to be an alternative model for publishing where folks would come to fictionaut specifically to read the recommended (as in most "favorited") stories... I have mixed feelings abt this, because I worry it could inadvertently promote clanishness or clique-ishness or become lowest-common-denominator editing. ...the site is very much still-evolving, can kind-of be anything you want it to be.
